I looked at some more pups this weekend. I was thinking about going with a Boudreaux/ Jeep male. Anybody had any experience with this cross? The dam is almost 100% Boudreaux. Beautiful little black pup. What do you guys think of that cross?
I think you'd better be ready for a very active, hard keeping dog. In my experince while Boudreaux dogs are as sweet as they can be, they're also high energy & if you don't give them an outlet they can be barky & destructive.
Some of the things my Boudreaux bred dogs have torn up were bowls, dog houses, chain link fencing & 8 feet of my privacy fence was completely shredded.
Now if you live out in the country & have a chain space where they can run themselves dizzy, it won't be as bad. But if you have to kennel them or keep them inside, daily excercise is a must or these dogs will drive you crazy.
As for Jeep dogs, I don't know as I have never owned a Jeep dog. I always heard Jeep was an easy keeper, but Jeep had some Boudreaux blood in him, so his line may have some of the same traits, I don't know.
Good luck! :)

I guess it depends on what you aquiring the dog for. A house dog? Hog dog? Even if its just a house dog it will require a strong leadership from yourself, more then typical exercise and mental stimulation......that is for the both of your benefit otehrwise they'll just get into mischief, ha ha!

I was trying to get a brother for Pistol. She acts better with another dog and I don't have another permanent dog just visitors. Also Brandon was wanting a dog and Pistol wont have much to do with him. She is fearful of young men. I am trying to build our females confidence and get my boyfriend a dog at the same time. We are very active with our dogs and have always wanted two at a time, but it never happened.
Brandon is leary of getting another game bred pup for fear it will be a challenge like Pistol. How can I convince him that not all game bred dogs have people fear issues?
He thinks the only reason she acts like this is because she was bred to fight.
I believe he is wrong. Can you help me explain that game bred dogs should be less human aggressive because they have to be handled in the [].

I have a 14 month old boudreaux who is very active. i wear myself out trying make sure he gets enough exercise and he is still ready for more. I also purchased a female down through Tab. I dunno if it's because she is still a pup be she has more energy than he does. They both get along very well. Good luck because they are a hand full

For this reasone, I would say no. I have a thing about getting an APBT a "pet."
Of course, I've only owned 3 Boudreaux bred dogs (2 from F.B. & one from someone close & only have 2 left), but none of the 3 liked/like other dogs. The 1 that is no longer with us was a screamer & did so day & night to get to the other dogs. And he was ver active even after a hard workout. The other 2 I've got aren't any better except they aren't screamers 24/7. However, they will hop on the opportunity to grab another dog if given the chance & they are extremely hyperactive.

I agree with Mia. I wouldn't keep to game bred dogs in the house together, you never know what you might find when you get home; ie dead dog(s).
Jeep/Boudreaux is a nice cross!
Mia makes an excellent point. I have owned around 10 Boudreaux or Boudreaux crossed dogs & I only had one I could trust around another dog. So I would seriously re-think getting a Boudreaux bred dog if you're buying it to be a "friend" to your other bulldog, as dog aggression will likely surface.

Beautiful little black pup. What do you guys think of that cross?either way you cut it unless you have plenty of experince with these animals your going to have a tough situation on your hands.all the things that make boudreaux and made the line famous can be tough to handle by your casual owners.your looking at a dog that will be going 24 hours a day, trying to get at any dog it can, going to be heard headed and determined, super smart, and the list goes on.the Boudreaux line was and is 100% a fighting line.thats why so many dogmen of yester year fell in love with the line and valued it so much.i have only had Boudreaux dogs since the line became famous, had no other line after boudreaux.i kept them because they could win fights,go hunting, were nice to look at and had the high energy and such.i was looking for dogs that had these quailties and Boudreaux bred dogs fit the bill.they could go for hours had nice strong bites were the right size for me were smart as a whip and were just nice to look at in my opinion.if you can handle all that then go for it but if your new to the breed as in have not been keeping them for at least 10 years then i would try a diffrent line because it will overwhelm you some folks just can't kep the line because of how they act,so really think on it before you buy one.

Thanks for the replies. I have descided to pass up this pup and solely work with Pistol. The reason I was considering getting another was because Pistol is fearful of young men, but when another dog is around she is less fearful and competes for attention. I see how you thought it would be her friend. I think I will just bring the adult dogs over to play for a while. I am trying to build her confidence and she is more confident around other dogs.
My first female I got about 7 years ago was a scatterbred dog that went back to Boudreaux through Eli. She was a handful especially because I was new to the breed. I still do not know all I want to learn about these dogs, but trust me I would keep the dogs seperated if I was not supervising.
For now I am going to wait for the next puppy and make the boys work with Pistol more.
Thanks for eveyones kind words. I'll keep you posted.

I'll keep you posted.for suer don't get another dog to work on the confidence of your dog.just focous on the dog you already have and he should overcome the fear.just some good experinces with some young men that will give him some treats and such should do the trick.
