Chloe just jumped out the window!in my hurry to go after her i didnt lock the dogs up and of course joe and iz jumped out too.Well after chasing chloe down i realized the other two were gone so after the las 45 min a searching i find them covered in skunk and i had to put them in my car to get them home.Please any suggestions on getting the smell out of my car!! now i have two skunk dogs,my car reeks and a broken window.

LOL...sry, but it reminds me of me when the pups slip out the pin, I get one back in and 2 more get out. I've always heard that tomatoe paste is the only thing that gets the smell out so I would imagine it would help the dogs but as far as the car goes.....I have no idea

1 gallon of water

1 quart of hydrogen peroxide

1 cup baking soda

1 teaspoon of dish soap

LOL. To answer the topic title, it could most definitely have been worse, especially if you're near a road or trigger-happy neighbors. But you probably know that. Have you tried a forum search for the skunk issue? I think its been talked about, but I'm on too many forums and can't remember 100%

thanks everyone,joe,thanks for the recipe thats what il use to wash the dogs with.As far as my car i just sprayed it down with color safe bleach and some pet odor removel stuff.Hopefully it will work,i might be lucky as we were only 5 mins away from the house.Now i have to see if i can get the smell off myself i smell it in my hair and ill probably just end up throwing my scrubs away.Im pretty irritated but much more relieved that i found them after 45 mins i was getting really worried.

Mechanics orange solevant works really awesome on skunk,,,skunk spray is a grease,,,the mechanics soap degreases it,,,I like that better then anything I've tried,,,sounds like a busy day for ya,,glad you got them all back

The peroxide may effect your dog's coat color... I'm not sure about it on dogs but I know you can turn your own hair copper/blonde with it, (had a moron friend in high school lol)

lmao ... I remember once in the military we had a MWD who was a Bouvier de Flandres named Nuba. One night Nuba caught & killed a skunk. His handler refused to put him in the car, but instead made Nuba trot along the car back to the kennel. They ended up bathing him like 3x & the odor never did come out, so they just cut all his hair off. After Nuba left, our squadron never did get another Bouvier!

The above solution works (Hydrogen Peroxide, Baking Soda, Water). Trust me ;)

I have also tried tomato juice, and it covers the smell somewhat, but it doesn't get rid of it-just makes the dog smell like skunk and tomatoes!

man i tell you this one time we was driving I was following a friend. He hit this skunk I was right behind him so I hit it aswell. Well we took his car to Mcdonalds Drive through. Those guys practelly gave us the food to get us to keep going lol it was funny.
