I posted a thread a couple of days ago about trying to place my dog and since then I have recieved nothing but insults about how dare I get rid of my dog after having him for so long and the effort I put in with him. I care more about my dog then any of you will ever know if I didn't he would be at the pound right now instead of with me, I am trying to exercise my best options to a situation that I just cant seem to fix. My dog was bitten by a tick and I ended up kicking out close to 2000 dollars when it was all said and done, whenever I relocate I have to pay a 500 dollar deposit for my dog to stay, I was actually told that my dog couldn't be in a apt complex with me so I moved breaking my lesae and losing almost 3000 dollars, when I go out of town my dog goes with me, vacations he is right there, I walk him moring before and night after work, I had a bed made for him so that he could be comfortable while I am at work, my point is I love my dog and would never get rid of him but the problems keep ocurring over and ovr again, the problem started with his obsession with water, he would drink from his bowl then urinate and lick it back up I placed him in the bathroom and he chewed the door panel, drink from the toilet and ruined my toilet seat after I tried to tape it closed because the loud banging almost got me evicted, he jumped from the 2nd floor and completly ruined my blinds by chwewing them up things he has never done before, I dont want to get rid of my dog he is apart of my family but he is not happy and I can tell and if placing him with somebody who has a yard that he can run around and be free will make him happy then that's what I am willing to do. He is a great dog and deserves to be happy and this apt is destroying his spirit. It will definently be a big loss when he goes and my wife will cry for days but we both agree that this is best for him, so until you have walked in my shoes dont judge me.

If you don't want people to judge you then don't post your issues here. Simple as that.
A dog is a life-long commitment and, it seems to me, just because you are having some issues with him, he has to go. If you did your research about the breed, you should have known that apartment life is not suited towards gamedogs and that a bored dog will ruin a home. You obviously made a mistake in even buying a dog ...but what's done is done.
How you tried getting a crate? Not any normal crate but a heavy duty one that will hold an escape artist.
Wasn't there people here who offered to take your dog? Hell, I will, if you pay for shipping, lol.

but if you know that hes gunna have a good home isnt it worth it .. i mean people with yards are offering to take your dog and thats exactly what you said he needs if your going to get rid of him i think you owe your dog and your self that six hour drive couse you can go to bed at night knowing that your dog is in a happy place .... i havent walked in your shoes but ive owned dogs all my life and if i was in your position and knew for sure my dog had to go id drive to california to make sure he had a good home with good owners ... im not bashing or anything but its just my opinion ....

You could try a regular wire, folding crate but it doesn't sound like it would last too long with your dog. He'd probably chew it up.

WTF??!! I would rather drive 6 hours THAN part with my dog!! And if I had to...I would drive 6 hrs to make sure my dog was happy in his new home! Get a freakin grip, its not about you....once you get done with whatever deed you are going to do with this dog, you get to go home to the same bed in the same house....what does HE get??

Did you try what I suggested? did you contact the breeder you got this dog from? Is this dog Nueterd? Is this dog registerd? Do you have a ped on him?
I personally would rather you put the animal down. Honestly, that is the only way that you know for sure that you did right by him. Sometimes things dont work out the way we plan. What will make you laugh will make you cry.
But i'm not going to critisize you for rehoming your pet. Just be cautious of of those wolves in sheeps skin.

It will definently be a big loss when he goes and my wife will cry for days but we both agree that this is best for him, so until you have walked in my shoes dont judge me.actually son i have walked in your shoes and your problems with his behavior are all fixable.all it takes is some training and time on your part.this is why i always say if at least one person is not going to be in the home don't get a dog they need contact more than a couple hours a day.if you don't live in a house don't get a dog let alone a bulldog because your going to be tormented off the face of the earth.dogs need a steady place to live just like we people do,dogs need time and attention you can't just lock em in a bothroom or leave em alone in the small apartment all day and expect them to not get bored and cause some trouble.dogs sniff, dig, bark, chew, scratch, make mess's,run around, jump, howl,if you have a male that ain't fixed they will mount anything and leave you a sticky surprise, they do disgusting things, they can smell and the list goes on and on.to dog people it ain't nothing to fret over but this is why dogs have no place living in little ant farms (apartments) dogs belong in a home with a nice big yard to run around in even a little yard is better than no yard.now son i ain't saying none of this out of anger i am just telling you what i have see over my years on this earth.and in todays ''society'' unless you own your own home or rent from a very nice person out of the big city start off with a hampster or a small bird like a parakeet you will do much better.dogs have no place being cramped up in a tiny apartment or trying to live in a big city with nothing but cars and sidewalks for the rest of their lives.if you have to get rid of your dog don't get another untill you get your own place with a fenced yard of some sort and don't have to work as much other wise you will be in the same boat again and it just ain't fair to the dog.but for all your major problems that you have had with this animal all i can say is welcome to the fun of owning a dog,it goes on from the moment they are born till the day they die.myself i couldn't live without them but a lot of folks don't think the way i do.

you wont drive six hours for your dog?if your not willing to put any effort into finding him a home just get the poor thing euthanized.Im not hating on you cuz you have to get rid of your dog ,but really six hours is too much?I would walk for six hours with my dog on my shoulders if i had to.

I agree completely. I love my dogs like i would children. If i had to give my dogs to someone else i would do whatever it took to ensure a new home. I would personally take my dogs to the other side of the earth if that was the only good home i could find for them. Money and time would not be an object to ensure i happy life for my babies.

If you really cared about your dog a 6 hour drive would be nothing,,,I do all the same things for my dogs that you do for yours,,,I have lost 4 pair of shoes in the last month to a leather eating varment that lives in my house,,but guess what? it was my fault I left them where he could get them,,,they are dogs/animals they do that if they can,,,I don't mean to insult you but you sound like a wendy winer,,drive the 6 hours to give your dog a good home.

either euthanize the dog or take whoever here offered to take him and drive him to them.... its not fair what you are doing , why not think about the DOG instead of you? all dogs need training and time w/ their owners, not a few hours thrown to them here and there. that is unfair to expect the dog to understand what you want when you are not training him to understand what you want. instead of complaining about a 6 hour drive, be thankful someone here offered to take your dog. apbt's are IMPOSSIBLE to place in good homes, let alone game dogs that are high energy... with over 6000 pitbulls for adoption on petfinder.org and the ones on www.pbrc.net (http://www.pbrc.net), do whats right for your dog and stop whining.

I dont get it, why isnt your dog in a cage during the day? I live in a huge house & my puppy still stays in a large crate while my husband & I are @ work...My best friend has an APBT as well, and lives in an apartment too & has Maddie in a crate during the day, so nothing gets destroyed....Think about it, maybe theres better options than giving the dog away, maybe theres a better solution! Maybe u should just train him, not to destroy things or to listen to u better! have u guys tried that?

I posted a thread a couple of days ago about trying to place my dog and since then I have recieved nothing but insults about how dare I get rid of my dog after having him for so long and the effort I put in with him.
First of all, no one is insulting you. In your FIRST thread, there were TWO members who would of taken your dog.
I care more about my dog then any of you will ever know if I didn't he would be at the pound right now instead of with me, I am trying to exercise my best options to a situation that I just cant seem to fix. My dog was bitten by a tick and I ended up kicking out close to 2000 dollars when it was all said and done, whenever I relocate I have to pay a 500 dollar deposit for my dog to stay, I was actually told that my dog couldn't be in a apt complex with me so I moved breaking my lesae and losing almost 3000 dollars,
This money you are shelling out is ALL part of being a responsible dog owner
when I go out of town my dog goes with me, vacations he is right there, I walk him moring before and night after work, I had a bed made for him so that he could be comfortable while I am at work, my point is I love my dog and would never get rid of him but the problems keep ocurring over and ovr again, the problem started with his obsession with water,
have you had the dog checked by the vet for the water issue? It could be an underlying medical issue
he would drink from his bowl then urinate and lick it back up I placed him in the bathroom and he chewed the door panel, drink from the toilet and ruined my toilet seat after I tried to tape it closed because the loud banging almost got me evicted, he jumped from the 2nd floor and completly ruined my blinds by chwewing them up things he has never done before, I dont want to get rid of my dog he is apart of my family but he is not happy and I can tell and if placing him with somebody who has a yard that he can run around and be free will make him happy then that's what I am willing to do.
Again, TWO members offered to take your dog.....
He is a great dog and deserves to be happy and this apt is destroying his spirit. It will definently be a big loss when he goes and my wife will cry for days but we both agree that this is best for him, so until you have walked in my shoes dont judge me.

I dont really post a whole lot, but all I can say is don't take nothing personal. You picked the wrong place to say you got to get rid of your dog. You're wondering why everyone is ganging up on you and giving neg comments. Well think about it, everyone on here are here because they love their dogs. So when someone on here says they have to or cant take it no more and must rid the dog. People are going to be offended by that. To be honest, the reasons behind getting rid of the dog are just excuses of not being responsible. You're going to have days your dog pi##es you off. But again its something you are going to have to deal with. Its all the same when keeping a dog. Its gonna take MONEY,TIME,HARD WORK and DEDICATION. (multiply by 10 when its a gamedog)
Good luck to you and your dog.

Good luck to you and your dog.well i've been sitting here reading through rusty's previous posts. it seems as though there are some pretty intresting things.
first of all he is the "sef proclaimed" king of dogs in n.c. "just ask about me" lol i don't know about you all but there are some pretty good dog people in n.c.
i found a story where the AC stopped him walking this very dog and took it and euthed it. wtf? how are you having all these problems when the dog was euthed?
also got a double bred frisco 4 month old pup that's "gotta go" is the name of the thread
looking for a "cheap" pup in n.c. for around a 100 bucks
self proclaimed king of dogmen wondered if getting another APBT for a buddy to his other APBT would be a good idea.
talks about breeding his female.....why did you need a buddy if you got a female already?
starts threads about racial topics that are offensive. more than once.
and i barely got onto the third page....lol

All I got to say is that this situation is possible. Why not entertain the situation and find ways to correct it? I did not read anything Boogie has stated came from Rusty. Sounds interesting to say the least. I will say i know as a matter of fact he was looking for a female months and months ago.
Anyway, rather than go into a soap box and point fingers at "what a looser" someone is, let's concentrate on the topic. Who knows who will need this same help in the the future.
Boogieman, yes, I did say use a leather muzzle on the dog. I gave this suggestion because of the desparate situtation Rusty sounded to be in. A leather muzzle is not like those nylon type muzzles. The one I am mentioning does not hinder the dog in any way. They can still open their mouth. The only thing they cannot do with this is bite. Now, if you feel your poor doggie will suffer because of a muzzle, you may be feeding the wrong type of dogs. I am giving a useful tip on how to prevent a house destroyer from chewing everything in sight. If we want to measure "cruelty", I would say placing a dog in a crate "all day" is much harder on a dog than walking about the house with a comfortable leather muzzle.
PERSONAL NOTE: I will be using a large cage to contain my future canine in the near future. Only one will be allowed to roam the house while other(s) are in a closed room in their large cage. All dogs will have equal time to roam apartment as a "pet".
Rusty, I too would suggest taking your dog to a vet for a complete blood and urine analysis. Just think of all the things that may have changed. You have had this dog for 7 years (so you say), I have had MINE for 7 years. In a dog world were most dogs experience 3 or 4 different owners in the same life span, your accomplishment is to be noted. Like I told you before, where there is a will, there is a way. You need to make things VERY clear to this dog when you see him pissing in front of you. You have to let him KNOW that sh!t is not allowed and will get him in ALLOT of trouble. The shock of your reaction may be enough to adjust his actions......maybe. lol
If nothing seems to work and you cannot find a home YOU KNOW to be good, i suggest you take him to be killed by a vet. Yes, I did say that. I rather know my dog lived his days happy than not be certain how he is doing with some strange new owner.....or worst, live his life in a no kill shelter where he will have little to no love and less human contact. Yes, some solutions are tougher than others.
Regards,
Rocky

I agree with this BUT there are 2 members here who are willing to take the dog, but apparently, Rusty seems to think that a 6 hour drive is too much. What Rusty doesn't realize is that his dog would walk forever for him.

Rockyi'm not the one with the problem so don't tell me what kind of dog i should be feedin fool. living in an apartment with an apbt isn't exactly the smartest thing i've ever heard first of all. (sorry to people that do it with success but you are the minority for sure) my dogs are very well socialized with a crate from the day they are born/arrive. to leave a dog muzzled all day just so it can roam the house while you're gone if fucking retarded period. no matter who the info comes from. a dog should be contained when not supervised. waaaaaaaaaay too many things to be gotten into and torn up, even with a muzzle on. i never said one word about any poor doggie's suffering from a muzzle. it's the fact that you are trying to put a band-aid on something to cover up the problem. yeah great idea. he already said it jumped out a 2nd story window. are you gonna attach a chain to that muzzle too??? which by the way i highly doubt ever happened either as i've already said i think the guy is f o s....i simply answered as rocky addressed me in his reply.

I purchased my dog from a reputable dogmen and he is the result of a breeding from tom garner one of the most respected dogmen around these parts, it's easy to throw blows over the internet but i am a grown man and dont result to name calling nor have I said anything or started anything racist, thank you to ROCKY'S HUMAN for all of your help and I look forward to talking to you in the future.

Then call the reputable breeder, drive the dog the six hours to the home that wants him, or buy a better kennel and quit starting thread after thread of your lame excuses. If you are so damned smart ....prove it. Lets see what you figure out for this dog....I'm looking forward to talking to YOU in the future.

I live in NC and have purchased several pups from Mr. Garner, if you want a true bulldog come on down to NC where the champions live and I'm not talking about the TARHEELS (sorry Duke fans). Tom Garner is a reputable man and all of my dogs are registered.
I own 4 dogs from Tom, none have let me down.
I do alot of research about apbt and I am currently in the process of purchasing a female for my double breed frisco male.
I have a male Chinaman top/bottom and whenever I take him outside around other dogs his eyes, ears, mouth turn red and he is locked into another world almost as if he can't hear me. My dog is my friend and that's it I wouldn't put him in any danger at all. Is it safe to introduce a female puppy into my household or is this a bad idea, if so I wanted to know if anybody knew of some reasonable priced pups in the NC area? I alreday purchased one pup from Tom Garner but I dont want to pay $700 for another housedog, any help would be appreciated.
These are also posts from Rusty and I agree they all sound a little off. Do you even know what you have or how many? :o
I live in S.C. and I can think of 1 or 2 ppl that would like to take your dog, but I would need to know what kind of dog I could tell them you have. Seems like you have a lot of threads and posts that contradict each other.<!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

Two members offered to take the dog but you don't want to drive 6 hours, which to me, is disgusting. Other members suggested taking the dog to the vet (possible medical issue). The only thing I see you do is keep coming back here and posting the same stuff. Now, shit or get off the pot. Geez....and for someone with a college degree, you may be book smart, but you have no common sense at all.

Hell, I drove more than 6 hours to get someone's dog that was gonna be pts. I can't imagine not wanting to do that much for a dog I already own and love. What a piece of shit.
