yes i agree you should get rid of the dog, and maybe dont get another till you have a yard. a crate aint no life for a bulldog.

A welder could make you an iron crate that should hold up. But it takes a lot of dedication to keep one of these guys happy in an apartment. Best of luck to the dog. Hope things work out for him.

i live in an apt and my solution has always been the same ...wake up a hour early for work and excersise the piss out of him not all dogs are the same (some more high strung than others) but chances are if you did that you wouldn need a kennel for him hed sleep till you got home but again not all dogs are the same and this is just my opinion

In all my years I have not had your problem. Period. I have had them tear up some shit, break some lesser hardware but not what you discribe. So one of two things is going on there. You work too damn long and the dog has to shit and piss and ain't going to do it on himslef or you are buying sub quality stuff to put it in. I have some hard driving ass dogs. in that case you need to make a choice. Good yard space with the proper set up or find your dog a home with some one that will.

Oh Rusty..........giving up on your Frisco (i believe) dog so soon? Did you get that female you were aiming to get? From the sounds of your current situation, i hope you did not get another dog.
Anyway, do you want to keep your dog or is he on the way out regardless?
There are several ways to contain a dog living in an apartment. I live in an apartment and have not encountered your issues. Allot of it has to do with exercise. I even bought a slat mill to keep him nice and tired while I am at work. Anyway, here is a simple and quick solution to your problem. Buy dog a leather muzzle with strip in front. I have found leather muzzles to be the most comfortable type available to dogs. It gives dogs the ability to rest their heads however they like, while containing their teeth. In addition, please make sure cage is big enough. Some people tell you to buy one cage that is 4 inches higher and longer than the dog. Personally, I would get a cage that is 42 inches long (instead of the 30 or 36).
Another alternative to caging is to use a chain link setup; Yep, in your apartment. All you have to do is set it up to a radiator (make sure it is sturdy) or other similar fixture. Another option would be to lock him in a room such as a bathroom until your return.
When there is a will, there is a way.

You could anchor a tie down to a wall stud. You may lose your deposit when you move due to the hole in the wall, or you could fix it yourself if you know how. Or you could rent a house with a yard. The three threads I read have some good sugestions for you. People have tried to help you buy offering to ship the crate to you or take your dog, no one criticsized you from what I could tell. If a 7 year old dog is not worth a few bucks in shipping, exercise & training maybe he is better with someone else. Did you ever take your dog to the vet to see why he drinks so much water? He could have some underlying medical problems that are causing his behaviour. What happened to the puppy? I am looking at my 7 year old dog right now. Although he is a pain in my ass I would never give up on him.

Look what you said a year ago.
I want to thank all of the dogmen from the past and present, I was once one of those people who had a misconception about the breed, I remember seeing my first apbt on the cover of time magazine and I had to have one because I thought it would define me and make me look tough, I purchased my first apbt in 1999 and he has been by my side ever since, no matter the situation my dog is always there by my side, this is honestly the best dog I have ever owned, I talk to him like a human being and he undestands every word, when I get home from work he's always waiting by the door, when I am sick he sits by the bed and wont move, becoming a member of this form helped me to understand the true nature of the apbt and what the breed represents, thank you for all of the helpful information and advice that I have recieved from this site it is truely a honor to learn so much from such reputable people.

You must spread some reputation around before giving it to Cheeky again...
PLEASE think about the dog first and then act. If that means rehoming, fine...just make sure THIS time, its a forever home.

drinking excessive water is signs of either thyroid issues or kidney issues. your dog is 7 years old, he needs to see a vet to find out whats wrong, not to dump him because he is acting up...

There are TWO members who are willing to take this dog for you.OK i'm going to quote the famous mia from the other day..."this thread makes me wanna puke" wtf???? you're so glad you got this dog...best dog you ever owned....blah blah blah just take the dog to one of the people offering to take it.
and muzzle the dog all day???? wtf???? rh i usually agree with and respect most all your posts but i gotta say you must be out of your mind. what a life to sit all day with a muzzle on.
I agree w/ maryellen. Have you taken this dog to a vet yet? As soon as you mentioned excessive thirst, kidney problems jumped right into my mind. And sometimes if a dog is not feeling well, it will not act well (right) either.

You should've house trained your dog, IMO. I mean, hell if your going to have a dog inside, house train it to where it can stay in a room or something.
If not, there are some strong ass cages you can get man, for real. Yea they cost like 200 bucks but it's worth it.
Here's one in the attached thumbnail. 350 bucks. If your dog gets out of there something's wrong and you get your money back. Sounds like alot but it will save you the trouble.
