We just picked up a 18month male. He has hit his tail on his house so much it is almost cut into, about 3in. from the tip. Is there any thing I can do to save the tail.

Not far from it. He beat it all the way around, still some flesh left but not much.

does the vet think its amputation time or think that something can be done to let it heal?

did you take your dog to the vet? If it's really bad you should. Hopefully it can be saved and you will just have to keep it clean and bandaged. My girl has a pretty bad case of it, thought she was gonna lose part of her tail....but it is healing much better now.

see how her tail is wrapped? We have to spray it with bitter apple to keep her from ripping the bandage off.

I think you should consult your vet because the wound might get infected .

Just got him Sunday night. We cleaned it up and put some med. on it then wrapped it. We'll see what the Vet has to say today. Thanks for the reply's.

Search for "happy tail". It's a very common problem, and experienced by most of us at some time or another.

I wouldn't worry about what the peanut gallery has to say, I would try and take the advice of those that are willing to help! I had a similar problem with my one female, I did exactly what pitbull219 did except my girl didn't bother it so i didn't have to spray anything on it to keep her from messing with it. One thing, I did do was change it every 3 or 4 days and put some kind of healing agent on it. Good luck and keep us posted!

if you get a paid subscription, you can see exactly who left you rep ;)i dont care if i get neg points if i really say something assinine, but the post they were reffering to was my reply to your pic, nothing rude or stupid.People shouldnt leave other people shitty messages just because they dont like what you say,it was really ignorant.Oh well, some people just have to open their mouths to feel important, im not woried about it though. Its all good.:D
