doing some research and have a question.

How do you feel about a kennel that has on their website "NO Yark Visits, No Execections!"? Yet on their website if gives you the option to purchase the dogs right over the internet.

Now I believe in seeing the dogs up close, in person, as well as he parents. Would you discourage from purchasing from them, the dogs on the website look real good and seem to have some nice peds. Not sure if I should have posted their website but just wanted some feedback.

Edit-link removed.

The reason there is no yard tours, 99% of the time is because if you don't know where the dog's are, you can't steal them! Letting every untrustworthy dick and joe to look over your yard, and know where all of them are, is asking for trouble. Always has been, always will be.

Also, I removed the link. PIK is not a fly by night kennel, they have been around awhile, with good dogs, and if you can get one of them, I'd highly recommend it. However, that needs to be taken up with them, there is no reason for their link on this site. Thank you.

the no yard vists are actually pretty common practice due to the high theft of these dogs.a lot of time folks will look at your dogs you have for sale but they are really making mental notes about wich dogs they will come back and steal.i prectice this myself,no one gets in my yard unless i say so but i also don't post pictures, pedigrees or anything like that on my dogs let alone devote a full website to selling my dogs.but i don't sell to the public so there is no need for it in my case.if you really like a pup be sure and print pictures of the parents they have posted up and be sure your able to see both if available as well as a pedigree.also print out a copy of the pedigree this way you can compare the dogs or dog to the pictures and the pedigree to make sure you ain't getting hogswallered.also print out pictures of the pup in question and compare that as well.but like 14 rock said they know what they are doing so i wouldn't be to worried about it.

I also have heard nothing but good things about them. I dont think you should be discouraged about doing buisness with them. Best of luck to you.

Another thing is to ask around about other breeders in your area. There are a lot of good dog people in NY so take your time, unless you are dead set on PIK.

Not really dead set on PIK, i'm still doing some research on different bloodlines and wanted to know some stuff about the dogs he runs. I'm gathering information so I can narrow it down to a specific bloodline then i'll start looking for a reputable kennel that runs them. Don't mind traveling more concerned about getting something i'm happy with. I dont have the previlage of getting different dogs and seeing which I like which I dont, so basically I have to make sure what I get is good. Any info is helpful thanks!

Also any advice in what to ask or look for when talking to breeders over the phone, what questions do you guys/gals ask?
for instance do I say, how do they act? do they make good house dogs? drive...etc.... My female now was BYB and I was uneducated at the time 4 yrs ago. So thats why i'm gathering alot of info now, I figure i'll actually buy in about a 1 yr or so.

What kinda dog are you looking for? Do you just want a house dog only or do you plan of showing the dog?
Also NEVER ask a breeder how their dogs act, that is the first sign that you have no clue as to what you are doing.
If you are in the city then you have a lot of options if you are willing to travel a few hours. There is Pa, Upstate, Mass, MD, VA these are all close.
Do some research on this site and and see what kinda dog you want then try to find a breeder that runs that line.

That is their bussiness. But I would not buy a dog from anyone who won't let you see the dog in person.

Do some research on this site and and see what kinda dog you want then try to find a breeder that runs that line.Already have my house dog, I want a working dog. Just want an honest bulldog, again I have some time, so mainly doing research now. Its hard to see what I like since most good kennels wont let you come and interact with their dogs to see how they are. I when I search a particular bloodine its stories about greats that came down from those lines, and when you ask someone about their dog everyone has a different opinion about what they have and like. Plus every kennel tells you their breeding the best "blah blah blood". Again I dont have the ability to get various bloodlines and determing which one I like and take it from their, thats why I wanted to interact with as many types as I can to make that determination. I hope i'm getting across what i'm thinking. Fustrating since I don't have a mentor nor grew up around these dogs.

So thats why i'm gathering alot of info now, I figure i'll actually buy in about a 1 yr or so.well the usual line of questions will give you a pretty good idea of what type of people your dealing with.ask about health guarentees, how the dog is registered, ask about shots and wormings, vaccine records on the mother, how many litters they have a year(your good breeders won't always have litters available 365 days a year, and they won't have 8 and 10 diffrent litters to choose from.in other words if the breeder ain't gonna let you walk away with out a dog of some sort thats a big red flag) ask some history questions on the breed to see how much they know about the breed ask about the lines of his paticular stock.a good breeder knows his stock inside and out,ask about his matienence schedule for keeping the yard clean and such.just pretty common things that a person who should be breeding these dogs will know.if they stumble around or make up stuff i would just keep on going.

If you know their dogs than you don't need to go to their yard. They've been around for over 40 years and have been running that line since the beginning of that line. They're doing things right over there. I don't run Redboy/Jocko or Jeep/Redboy, but I can tell you that they do have very good dogs and I am in NY also, so I have seen their dogs!

Happy Hunting!
