View Full Version : APBT Rescue
Hello, i'm not a new member but I am wondering how to start my own APBT rescue in Knoxville, TN. I've bought property, have some financial resources to get me started, i'm a divorced male, 38 years old with two beautiful children and four WONDERFUL DOGS. I want to save our breed from all the political crap, kill shelters, abusive owners, homeless dogs, etc.... Any help in the right direction would be greatly appreciated! MIKA

Have you tried fostering for an existing rescue group first? That might be a good place to get started, and maybe they could help you get established and on your way. Pit Bull Rescue Central (http://www.pbrc.net/organizations.html) has a list of rescue organizations, if you want to get in touch with somebody. Good luck! :)
Thank you for your help. I'm on three volunteer lists. I lost a 5wk old pup about three weeks ago trying to keep it out of the pound. Died of internal bleeding, parvo. I just want to help our breed, no matter what it takes.

I agree with bahamutt, you can start building kennels and the facility, but you need to get in with another rescue, and see how things run from the inside.

Just do what you can. The fact that you want to help is great! But its also easy to get in over your head and burn yourself out quickly. Build your kennels, foster and place a few dogs, learn your limits as far as how many you can care for at once and still allow time for your own family. You can always add more later if you feel you can handle it.
