Always loved ball pythons best for snake pets! Very good pets as far as snakes go. I hope your hubby did LOTS of homework beforehand because keeping a cold blooded animal is very very complex. For one, they get stressed EASY, so I would not let the cute snake get handled too-too much just yet, as they tend to take a long while to adjust to new homes. Even so much as to not eat for weeks-months depending on the level of stress. There's a lot to learn having a cold blood in the house! I'de start looking for a good snake vet now, because they are VERY hard to find and you may need one down the line!

Good luck! He/she is a very pretty snake! Looks very healthy, so the pet store/breeder will be a great place of reference for future inquries! http://www.game-dog.com/forums/images/icons/icon10.gif

Thanks to you both. This is by far not our first reptile or snake to say the least. Joey has had many snakes in the past. Before I was pregnant we had an 8' Red Tail Boa. She was great. We've also had Burmese(my personal favorite) Reticulated Python, and many others. We have a great reptile vet about 15 min away if we need. Thanks so much for the info!

No, you didnt come off as a know it all. I appreciate the concern/info. I used to feel bad, but not anymore. This one just eats small rats. Nothing compared to the Chihuahua sized rats we used to feed our old one.

LOL...hey now, when I first saw this that ugly lil chi was the only cute animal there...I am so scared of snakes. Just looking at that pic makes my skin crawl to no end!

Glad he is enjoying it though! Better there than here!

Cool snake! They make good pets as long as you keep up with handling them everyday. I had one for a really long time and he was fun, very friendly too :)

Blaize is very proud of his snake. As a matter of fact when I came home from work last night he told me all the "rules" of snake handling. Dont touch their face. Dont move to fast. Dont yell real loud. Dont put your face in his face. Wash your hands. It was so cute. He followed me around for an hour explaining every detail about the process of buying the snake, all the rules, how he got the name, it was hilarious.
This is for you haters............
