Legend doesnt really destroy toys..only tennis balls which is not allowed to have anymore....Now Gemyni you can't give her really anything except balls(Jolly balls, squeaky balls, etc). I tried a tire bitter well after 2-3 minutes of running around shaking it it was done and in the trash.

I have had good luck with the Extreme Kongs, knuckle bones, Nylabones. Those seem to last the longest for me.

Nylabones & coconuts are the only thing that last around here.

My dog seems to be less likely to destroy hard rubber toys. Kongs, tirebiter, bad cuz (really annoying squeaky ball), hollee mollee roller extreme have all faired well with her. Those big hard plastic horse balls (jolly balls is what I think they are called) is her favourite. Its huge so she can't bite it and she just runs around after it. She also doesn't tend to destroy her rope toys. Anything vinyl or stuff with fluff is to be destroyed. She really likes basket balls, although she deflates them in about 5 minutes, she will play with the carcass for a long time pulling peices off.
Each dog is different and destroys different toys. It takes some time an dmoney to figure out what it is that your dog likes and won't destroy.

BLACK Kongs (not the red ones....the red ones are like jello to our dogs ;) ) with a layer of peanut butter slathered on the inside, packed with kibble, & then sealed off with more p.b. Freeze if you want to to prolong the fun, otherwise give to dog & let him enjoy!
Plus, the Kong makes a great toss toy as it bounces every which direction & pretty high as well.
We play with rope toys here as well, but only the gigantic ones with like 3-4 knots in them.
However, I don't leave ANY dog alone with ANY toy. It's not worth it as one would be amazed how they could destroy even the most indestructible of toys within a few hours.
And bowling balls are great, but I used to laught at poor shortbus Shaker as he would just stand there looking at it with his head cocked to the side.....and bark. He never knew what to do with the thing.
Out in the yeard, we also use go-kart tires as a means of endless fun & activity.:D

Oh yes. I've extracted items such as pieces of nylabones to pieces of Kongs to rawhides (the most common) to socks to rocks to Gorilla Glue to a diamond engagement ring to a used condom (the look of horror on the owners' faces when we showed them what we got out of their dogs intestines was priceless :D ) to tinsel to wood to fish hooks (once even those 4-pronged whateveryoucallthem kind of deep sea fishting) to nylon panyhose.........& the list could go on.

You guys serious about a bowling ball? Sounds like broken tooth alley to me and never mind all the triping over the thing. Worth a try I suppose.
(My Pets)For toys I use a rope, sticks and a soft ball for retieving; The rope also gets some tug worked in. The soft ball and rope last a good few months but I never leave it with them.
Working dogs start with a ball on a string to develope their prey drive pretty young. For bite work depending on how tough the pup is you might start with a terry cloth and move up in fabric toughness to a bite sleeve.
