Madison,WI -- A Town of Dunn man accused of breeding pit bulls for fighting was sentenced in federal court on Friday for drug trafficking.
Robert Lowery, 58, was sentenced to 72 months in prison for conspiracy to distribute marijuana.
When authorities searched Lowery's home in June, they said they uncovered approximately 2 kilograms of marijuana, 700 grams of cocaine, several loaded firearms and $48,000. Law enforcement officials said that the evidence revealed that Lowery arranged for more than 100 kilograms of marijuana to be imported to the Madison area.
Authorities also seized from the property 47 pit bulls that were discovered during the drug raid. Lowery and his wife, Julie Dzikowich, were facing dogfighting charges in connection with the seized pit bulls.
As part of a settlement with Dane County, the Humane Society received custody of 38 of the dogs while Dzikowich received nine of the pit bulls. Humane Society officials said that they plan to euthanize 25 of them.
Also as part of the settlement, criminal charges against Lowery and Dzikowich related to the alleged dogfighting operation were dropped.

Why do they have to put the dogs down, is what I dont understand.
I bet Bob wishes for many things to be different.I'll bet Bob wishes he would have kept his greedy hands off those drugs.
I figure it this way - if you want the drugs, go for the drugs. If you want the dogs, go for the dogs. But don't mix the two!! It is only the dogs - the ones who are allegedly loved - who lose in the end!!
Sheesh.
How long is it going to take before people realize drugs & dogs don't mix!!!?
Also, according to the article not all of them are going to be killed. 9 were given back to his wife. The ones they're going to PTS probably have scars, etc.

dude got caught, there is no exscuss for what happened. If the po-po is trying to get you for something the are gonna get you for every charge they can so the penalty will be greater.

Which is why we as pit bull owners should be keeping our noses clean.
I feel sorry for the poor dogs, but I don't feel sorry for him. He knew what he was going was wrong & knew he shouldn't be doing it.
Now he got caught & most of his dogs are going to get killed as a result. And now he has a good long time to think about it, although in all reality, he will probably only do about half of his sentence.
But that's not going to bring his dogs back from the dead. I hope he's sorrowful for what he's done. And I don't mean sorrowful for peddling the drugs, I mean sorrowful for having a hand in having his dogs murdered.
IMO owning pit bulls & pedding or doing drugs is as a sure way to have your dogs killed as by putting the bullet in their brain. Because if you get caught - & eventually you will - your dogs are going down w/ you.
The only diff is you'll get jail. They'll get PTS.

But this game has been hard core for as long as I can remember. And Now that it is so hush hush it has gotten worse. the folks into the game are into some Hard core stuff. Not all of them but alot are. in the last 10 years Ive seen it go down hill fast a lot of young gangsters are getting in to it and that is a shame. and I know Bob. He was not a real stand up guy hell he stole Right hand man I know J.L stole him back but he told him not to send the dog back to florida ever or he was going to get him back. The point is it has allway been a mix of people and alot of them are on the other side of the fence when it comes to how they make money. Its just a shame the dogs have to pay the price. J
When did this "hard core" element come in?? maybe I ma missing something, but when Earl Tudor, the Colbys, Floyd B. & the like were in their hey day I don't think there were fanciers peddling coke or weed. Heck, even when I was coming up sure ,a few fanciers smoked weed & a even some did coke, but they didn't peddle it & it wasn't present at shows.
It seems only recently I have seen these dogs become part of the drug culture. Or perhaps I was raised in a sheltered area? Who knows. I just know it seems to me the drugs & the breed didn't become entwined until the past 10 years or so.

it's the fad breed right now, so it's what's in the limelight, and ppl emulate what they see and read.
10-15 yrs ago, you watch any spike lee joint, or some ice-t or Larry Fishburne gangster movie (before he was Laurence Fishburne) and the 'bad ass' dogs were rotties. And that was the "problem dog" of the day, as far as I can remeber growing up as an adolecent. Cops were encountering rotties in local drug raids in our area; now its "pit bulls," whatever kind of dog they really are.

I agree, if there were ever cases from the past, they were very minor. Nothing like it is today. Last 10 - 15 years it has gotten way out of control. Seems the only ones you ever hear about are APBT's with the drug cases. It has gotten so bad now, that a lot of people (law enforcement) is very quick to assume that there are drug relations within APBT kennels/breeders. So there must be something to it!

Or they could just be putting two & two together.
If every time you bust a guy for drugs & they had a yard full of pit bulls, what would you begin to think about pit bull owners?
Yeah, not all of us are addicts or dealers, but there are a LOT out there who are & sadly, the bad apples form the perception.

Just play with and hunt with the friends and dont get in it and have fun thats all you can do. The days of the past are just good times ago. Yis J

Not to mention the fights that are busted up usually have suspects carrying paraphenalia and drugs and whatnot. I've already told a lot of people here my story. I use to be heavy in the street game years ago, and especially here in Memphis, drugs and bulldog fights go hand in hand. It was common to see the drugs themselves being wagered instead of money. I'm older than that now.
What I don't realize is why these people themselves don't realize that what they are doing with both bulldogs and the drug peddling. It just makes them shine like a light to the cops.I mean its one thing to be into drugs, and its one thing to be into dogs.
If you have your hands in both you are just doubling your chances of getting caught. Stupid to me. I don't know the guy or even his line so..
But one question how come we can post threads like this, but my thread about the news article where the man was attackd by two pitbulls was inacceptable?

Because your article was about pit bulls attacking humans & as a pro-pit bull site, this board does not want to fuel the notion of pit bulls being man-eaters, esp. when we do not even know it was a pit bulls who did the attacking.
This article on the other hand is just an article about a dumba.. human who just happens to own pit bulls.

Always a shock when someone can be arrested for found guilty for 2 kilo's of green, and 700 grams of white stuff, and the dogs are still the biggest point in the story.
What a shame.
