With it being very cold and snowy out here in the midwest I haven't been walking my 2yr old at all. I just weighed him this evening and he showed 55lbs. No, he doesn't look overweight at all but he's generally around 48lbs in the summer. I typically feed him 3 cups/day of Ultra and was thinking to cut it back to 2-2 1/2 cups/day.
Let me know your opinion? Thanks

Well being winter the extra will not harm the dog but provide some insulating fat for the dog. I would try to just maintain that weight till it warms up enough to start walking him again. Unless it is an inside dog that is. Then use your own judgement on that situation.

Inside dog, or outside? Outside dogs need to be nice and fat, or else they will shiver away all their body fat very quickly. Not a good situation for the dog to be in, and not something a caring owner wants to let happen to one of his/her dogs. Post a picture of him, I can't see him being that overweight if you didn't up the feed. In fact, I quit working most of the dogs as they prefer to stay in the warm dog boxes most the day as opposed to getting out in the snow and wind on walks. Most of the dogs sit in the box most the day except to eliminate, eat and drink, and when they are brought in the garage for their bonding time. Whichever way you look at it, they are about as un-active right now as dogs can be, and we have doubled the feed, as well as supplement with chicken broth and things of that nature to keep them plump and warm. Better 3 pounds too heavy, then even a pound too light with this winter weather!

Thanks.
He's an inside dog. I will post a picture of him in the coming day or so.
