IF THIS THREAD TURNS INTO BASHING THIS SITE OR ANYBODY ON THIS SITE I WOULD LIKE FOR THIS THREAD TO BE CLOSED DOWN.

IF THIS THREAD TURNS INTO BASHING THIS SITE OR ANYBODY ON THIS SITE I WOULD LIKE FOR THIS THREAD TO BE CLOSED DOWN.I personally think the site is great. I have said before, I have gone to many others and found that I always end up rolling my eyes at the garbage on there, and come straight back here. There are a couple of sites though, that do have more nutritional and health information available, that I think would benefit this site and is the only thing (I see) (for now anyways) that could be improved upon. A lot of it is stuff that can be copied from various places on the internet and placed on this board, if nobody minds. If I think of anything else, I will let you know!
Great post by the way!

This site is a fantastic all-around educational forum. It is politically correct, while not straying from the history of our breed.

The negatives of the site is its an all-around, educational forum, which is out in the publics eye! This leads to people will differing opinions on what this forum needs to head towards, competing, and attempting to make the site into something its not, and never was intended to be.

Shon has made it clear since day-one, this is not a dog-fighting website, and that the main purpose of the site is Education first, and foremost. For those goals, it has acheived it fully imo.

I think it's wonderful and addicting... so much so, that I need to get off and do some homework! lol

Very educational, I have certainly learned massive info since I joined... once a mere fancier of bullies, I now know a good deal about the bloodlines and containment of the dogs.

I would like more pictures please http://www.game-dog.com/forums/images/icons/icon10.gif

I think this site is one of the best out there. I have been on some other sites and there are no conversations, no helpful advice, Most all I even see on other sites is nothing but puppies for sale, who should I breed this dog too, my dogs head is bigger than your dogs head, ect. OR It's all rescue extremist/ pet bull type people that think if a pit bull does anything but lay on the couch that you are evil. This site is by far the best, and I like most everyone on here.

I think this is one of the best dog sites on the net. It has tons of great info on the breed and is very educational. I have learned alot from it. I believe it is a great asset for bulldog owners, especially newbies. I do not know how to make it better. I go other places to strictly talk bulldogs where the majority of the people own working dogs and work their dogs. The majority of the members here are great, besides the occasional BYB, but they are on every site. The rules are not that strict being that it is a public forum. Great site Shon and Marty it is a pleasure to be a member.

this site is excellent as a whole. very educational and for the most part all good people. the one thing i see that i don't like is the inconsistency of opinions. in other words, some newbie comes on and says something they did and gets a bashing for it, and then somebody who's been around for a bit says they did the exact same thing and all of a sudden it's a whole different story and people can let it slide. i think if it's good for the goose, it's good for the gander and one person should not be bashed while the other isn't just because you have come to know them somewhat. Marty and Shon thanks for providing an excellent place to come and share our info and pics and such! keep up the good work.

I like the site, for the most part. It's educational and there are a lot of pictures and whatnot, most of the people are nice and know their stuff. I enjoy reading the news section and getting updates on BSL and things of that nature. It's a nice site, over all, especially for newbies who need some advice or just to learn more about the breed. Very informative.

Keep the bickering to pm's, and don't take away from CB's thread, and force us to close it down. Everyones opinions thus far is clear, no need to respond further. If this continues, a temp ban will be the course of action.

I was a member on about 5 or so other sites, and lurked here for awhile before joining. What attracted me, initially and mostly, was the fact that this site moved: the topics varied, there was always new ones added, continously throughout the day, so, you wouldn't come on in the morning, and then come back in the afternoon and be reading the same thing again, like most of the other forums I was also on. Back in late 04 and early 05, there seemed to be more topics on bloodlines and such, and many of the earlier members I don't see posting as much :( , but like all things with the passing of time, things change, and people come and go. I like the fact that the members here are always helpful and willing to share advice, and nobody seems to walk around with their heads up their butts with that cocky "know it all attitude". That impressed me, and still does.

I would rate this site one of the best 'out there', as I think very highly of it, and it's a place I always find myself coming to, even when I"m dead tired some days. I've been fortunate to form some friendships due to it, and am SO very greatful for that. :)
and as far as Marty and Shon go, well, if I listed ALL the adjectives of how I really think of you guys and how great you two are imo, I'd make your heads get too fat!!!:D
so, suffice it to say I just luv you guys, and look forward to the day we get to speak to each other in person! ;)
Thanks for "this place" and for allowing me to feel all the comfort I feel from here.

I'm still hangin' around here so I like it. When I first came up on this site I liked lookin at the galleries and reading about the old dogs. Then I started posting and talking to people and after letting my ego chill I realized I wasn't the brightest bulb on pitbulls. Learned alot more than I knew, plus I like sharing the things that I do know. I'm more knowledgable about the breed and if I had a chance to talk to say Lester Hughes now, I wouldn't sound like a dumb nuts. Partially thanks to this forum. Plus I like the debating, gives me something to do.

Plus if I have a problem or a decision, I ask here, too. And the news updates are helpful.

There's a lot of 'clicks' and 'groups' I believe, but that's natural. I don't like the fact that because some board members own a dog or dogs of a certain color that they are looked at differently, by some, not all.

And I think there should be a 'Non-Dog Related' board.

and I think rep points should show who gives them. Even negative ones! don't be scurred!

I really enjoy this site. However, I've been in the breed since I was 8, and have had lots of years to learn to let BS roll off my back. I think a lot of people who haven't been exposed to the "darker" side of the breed are going to be put off by certain vibes and innuendos. Some people are going to come on, read "what would your fantasy match be?" and head for the hills. And I think there is a segment of the residents who are suspicious of new people who are too far outside the box, in a manner of speaking. And every now and then someone will post one of those "this board is crap, I wanna talk about GAME dogs, not petbulls," and that can feel very inflammatory and alienating to those of us who just enjoy our dogs without caring if they are game or not. (Before anyone feels the need to thump me, I feel the same way about fanatics in all groups.)

So, by and large a good site. Not necessarily one I'd take home to mom, but for the people who want to learn about all aspects of the breed, and aren't bothered by historical perspectives, its great. I like the volume of the board; I'm almost always guaranteed to have something new to read when I visit. I like the clean layout. I like the personal galleries. I like the photo contests. I like the reputation system for the most part. I just overall like.

Well, there is no doubt that me being me, and loving Jesus the way I do, puts me at odds with many here, but that is how it is in our country at this piont in history. I have views that are dated, and am not going to change, because God doesnt. I also dont like the PETA, AR folks who come here wearing sheep's clothing. I do see some views of the AR's have slipped in the back door of many people, but I also see that being confronted. Now, that is on th - side for me.

One time I was a member of the very best motorcycle group that was on the net. Had the same issues w/ my being a Christian and all, but I still stayed there. I would get frustrated, want to never come back, but I always did. One day, while I was upset about something(cant even remember) about the site, the site shut down. When it shut down, it was like a part of me was gone. That group fragmented into 4 or 5 smaller forums, but none is the same as when we were all together as a family. So, even though at the moment I am frustrated a bit, I do realize that this is a home for me to talk about the dogs. I have grown to love some of you, some I have grown to not enjoy, but there is not a one of you that if you were in trouble I would not help. In a heartbeat. I also agree w/ Suki, about how this place breathes, it is alive. Many boards I have "lurked" have the same threads at the top that were there 3 years ago! And your like 'what's the point'. I also know this, if a forum is not policed(moderators), it turns into a mess!! Sometimes you may feel like they are baby siting, but if they didnt, this place wouldnt be worth coming to.

What I have learned since coming here is this:
I live in the sticks. I live so far out that I cannot get cable tv, and I just dont really asssociate with many folks. When I first came here, I thought AR people were folks who simply wanted dogs to be fed, watered, and housed in an acceptable manner. I thought they just wanted animals to be in a healthy envirornment. I have since learned the plat behind them, and my eyes are wide open to the whole agenda against my dogs. And for that, I am greatful.

I like the helpful threads for folks, and, to be honest, the bashing threads are entertaining to me. There just is nothing like having a newbie come here, boast about their 120# blue pitbull with a 28" head, then to sit back and watch the fireworks, and then to hear them crawfish is hilarious!! Then, something amazing happens to a few wha have alittle strength to them, they shut up for a bit, and a little while later, they post again, and you can tell that they have been listening, and it is like a small miricle has just happened before your eyes.

This place is like a family. You have certain ones you get along with better than others, some you dont like, some dont like you, some are full of it, some are full of themselves, some wear masks, some dont.

You asked, I gave my .o2, if I offended you, pray for me, and I'll do the same for you, already am. Maybe one day we can all put aside our differences and do what is best for the WHOLE family, and but this BSL in the grave and cause all PETA and AR folks to jump the wall!!

I came here to learn about the real APBT from people who are dedicated to the bulldog in it's true form, plain and simple. While there are a few people here who I think need to seriously stay away from the APBT, most of the members seem to know their sh!t. Thanks to Game-Dog (and a dear friend of mine) I have the basic knowledge I need to get my kennel up and running, and I can now focus on the experience part. It is really nice to know when I get going that I'll have this forum for support.

There are multiple people here who's words I take to heart. The men (and women) who have a message in their posts. No BS, just truth. People you deeply respect, even when you disagree. That's a rare thing to find.

I love the diversity. We have pet bull owners to breeders of working bulldogs... people with no APBTs at all (like me, for now) to those who's numbers have reached double digits.

Then of course there are the people who are painfully honest... I gotta love 'em! lol

Overall, I'd give the site 4 (and a half, maybe) stars out of 5. :p

I like the site, it does a very good job of walking a tight line between a hardcore gamedog site and a typical pet owner site. All sites have some problems and some personality conflicts with people being people. All told this site keeps the crap at a fairly low level while having some very good information about a number of things. It is the only site I know of where you can get good info on such a wide range of subjects in the Pitbull world. Food, exercise, lines and history, basic care, the politics of owning a Pitbull.

I came to this site about a year ago just to snoop around cause i like most inner city born and raised young people was into pitbulls. Well when i came here i was one of those people that thought a real "pit" was those huge 100 pound beasts, but in short order i came to learn what the real apbt was and have greatly respected the breed since then. This site is great because u can learn something new every day even if u think u know everything u will find out that there is someone on here that knows a whole lot more than u do. Its great and has educated me thus far so when i really get into these dogs and form my own yard i will be partially ready for whats in store. Oh yea and damn this site is so addicting i can't get enough of it lol. so i give it 5 out of 5 rating for the overall site and the great people i've met on here, and hopefully if we still have that little get together in the summer i'll get to meet many people in person

this is a good forum, i like the pace it keeps. one thing, as has been mentioned already, there are some members here that should be turned away from gamebred dogs. not to say these arent good people in their hearts, i just think some would be better off even with a cur blue pit. these arent pets, not toys, and not a joke and i think some individuals may not realize exactly what they have sitting there in that puppy, or what to expect when it grows older. aside from that small detail this is a good educational forum with many people capable of caring for these animals the way they should be cared for.

What went wrong, just too much arguing and stuff that didn't need to be posted? It was taking away from the dogs. There would be 100 new threads in a day, 5 of them dog-related, 4 of them were just people showing off pets. It was a combination of a dog-forum, not really being a dog forum, too many heated topics not pertaining to dogs, and too much hassle for staff to keep an eye on, all the time.

Even if topics are discussing dogs on the forum, we try to keep it relating to dogs, any way possible. There were a few good threads in the OT forum, but most were better off left in the trash. Alot of people complained it was great "bonding" between members to talk anything but dogs, but this site was created for dogs to bring people together, not draw battle lines based on religion, politics, what kind of car you drive, and what shoes your currently wearing. Shon has always paid extra for the chat room on this site, so folks are still allowed every opportunity to loosen up a bit and do some "bonding". The chat room doesn't get much use, but be well aware, it is there for some of these off-topic discussions which have been taking over new threads.

Appreciate everyones input thus far, keep it coming. Any suggestions as to what we can do to make it even better, let them be known, and we may be able to discuss some of the better ones.

The first question I came to this site to get an answer for was...."Why is my female AS so DA?". Well I got the answer. The anwer was complete and substantiated. It has helped me invest my money wisely in her training by customizing the training for expected behaviors of a PB. In short this site saved my little girls life and gave me a model for responsible ownership. I can never repay the knowledgable members of this site for the gift of enjoying my dogs because I now know what they are and why they are the way they are. This site gets the highest marks and all of my respect and love! This is by far the best board I've been on in terms of civility, it lacks much of the drama of other boards. The members here do not sugar coat shit, but can still remain calm and civil if the time calls for it. The information provided here is priceless, and I enjoy discussing different aspects of the breed with people who know what they are talking about.

In terms of appearence, the board is clean and put together well. It's both easy on the eyes and easy to use. It has features I enjoy such as a seperate gallery and a rep system.

As far as downsides, I can't think of anything. People who don't belong here are quickly escorted to the exit, and the good folks are here to stay. I don't think who gives you rep should be shown, lest it start some trouble. I usually sign "GSD", and haven't given bad rap for a while.

So Game-Dog.com gets an A+.

But yet it is good to see who gives you good rep! You know who you can appreciate!

4.5/5

only thing i could recommend, is, my eyes are screwy and i get headaches staring at certain colors too long, so if (i don't know if vBulletin 3 has the option to do this, or if i'm missing it completely) you could change the color scheme, that'd be sweet. and show who rep points come from, too.
