I have a pup that leg is kinda folding over the vet said over the phone it sounds like ricket(sp). He suggested just getting a bag of science diet and it should clear up. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks

Well, not to be mean or disrespectful, but most vets "push" the science diet.
however if you purchase food that contains calcium, vitamin D and phosphorous, (which most do), then feeding it to your dog will help with rickets, as rickets, in most cases, is caused by an inbalance of these.
Rickets presents itself with improper bone developement. The joints swell, and the legs typically "bow" or "bend". Breaks and fractures are more likely in this case, as the bones are developing poorly.
A proper balanced diet is key to ensure that rickets won't ail your pet. Most commercial dog foods today are balanced, so rickets isn't so heard of today, as in the past.
