Don't worry he still has lots of time to fill out just walk him reg. and give him good food with high pro. in our world skinny is good look at our dogs (past and current) we like them skinny. dogs don't stop chaging until they are 2 1/2 to 3 years old and go thru some ugly stages in puppy hood.

Your dog now is as heavy as it should ever be. 70 pound bitch is over weight, a 90 male is grossly overweight and out of standard. Neither of those dogs should be breeding. Some one passed a mutt off on you and convinced you it was a APBT. Hung papers for sure if it has any. I am sorry to have to tell you this. Measuring around the head isn't part of figuring out standard conformation. Any thing out of standard must be fixed so that it cannot breed and produce more out of standard dogs.

he is up to date on all shots and no sign of worms. I walk him every day and play game like tug of war, fetch, and swim.

If a dog has a diet too high in protein, and not enough activity to burn that energy, won't they lose weight without building anything?

LOL well then that does make a big difference. In that case she is about right and I wouldn't worry any. BamaBoy will be able to help you with that question as he raises them also.

Well, considering that it is an American Bulldog, & not an APBT. If you love the dog, then take care of it, as to how you would care for yourself. The guys on here mentioned about work-outs, food, shots, etc.. Just take care of the dog & train it to be obedient & you will see. That later on you'll be alot happier about what you have & not what you don't have.God bless you...

8 month old dogs normally look pretty lanky, and goofy, especially larger breeds like an American Bulldog. No need to feed high protein diet if its just a pet, and not expending much energy. You dont want large breed dogs to grow too quickly, as it creates exaggerates health problems down the road.

Rock hit it on the nail. Large breeds need to grow more slowly so there joints form better. Feeding too much protein and nutrients causes rapid growth, and it generally results in bone deformalities, and what not.

Your dog will still reach his genetic determined size, just a little bit slower. Also, make sure you always keep your dog at a fit weight. Extra weight can cause mega problems on bigger dogs that can be prone to hip dysplasia.
