i have a male pit about 1 year old. he has a problem with little red bumps all over his body, kinda like a rash. i took him to the vet and they gave him a shot, but that only made things worse so they gave me an antibiotic which i gave him for 1 week, still no help. does anyone know what this could be? i am using sensetive skin shampoo. also, he has been scratching his ears to the point that they bleed, i bought a spray that is supposed to help with the itch, and also thought about getting one of those funny looking funnel things that go around their neck. any suggestions would be great. thanks alot!!!!
How long has this been going on? Has it gotten worse over time? Is this a new dog? Anything new you're giving him?
It's hard to diagnose via the web, but it sounds like a case of demodex mange. Or, I'd say an allergy of some sort.
What did your vet say it was and why did he/she administer a shot? Did your vet do a skin scraping to detirmine if it is a parasite?
an E-collar will help with the ears/scratching, and over the counter Benadryl will help with the itching.
This site has some info on the demodex:

The vet didn't do a skin scrape but he said it must be some kind of allergies. Now that the weather is getting colder it seems like his skin is getting better. He is about 14 months old, and I haven't done anything different besides switch from puppy food to adult (his skin was broke out before this).
I'm not sure what an e-collar is, and can I use a liquid form of benadryl?
thanks for all your help...

I'm surprised about no scraping, if for nothing else, to rule out parasites as the culprit. anyhow, ...
If his skin is getting better, maybe then, that it was some sort of allergy, perhaps seasonal.
The E-collar is what I think, you were referring to, what you initially termed as the "funny looking funnel" type thing. Its use show help, regarding him making his ears bleed.
Here is a link regarding the benadryl. I would consult with your vet prior to administering ANY otc medicine to ensure a proper dispension.

best of luck and I hope he feels better soon.
