That is correct Tab passed in 03. He was one hell of a producer, and yes folks I know he was bred alot! BUT he more than produced his fair share of great animals! I love the Tab dogs myself. Some of the Gamest dogs on the planet. If you can get your hands on the good ones. See when Al had him anyone could back what the hell ever they wanted to up to him, as long as it was in heat and they had the stud fee, so basically someone could of backed a german shepherd up to him if the had the money in hand!! and thats the truth! These dogs have played a key role in my breeding program for years. They cross well into most any bloodline. They have great success crossed into the mayday dogs, and the yellow dogs. and back to the Jeep/redboy/rascal family. I have also seen some impressive animals come from a Tab/Eli cross. The Tab dogs are a very solid line so they will cross well into most any other solid line. CH Gator http://www.apbt.online-pedigrees.com/public/printPedigree.php?dog_id=110 was ONE HELL of a bulldog and a great producer himself, one of his most well known sons is GR CH BLACKJACK!
His brother CH Brute also sired his fair share of good dogs, I myself have a daughter of his that is nothing short of the truth! I would not trade her for THE WORLD!

The problem isn't the price of the semen, it's who is gonna do the artificial insemination. My friends have had a couple of unsuccesful attempts with S&W Gr Ch Badger frozen semen. They finally heard about a vet who specialized doing the procedure and were able to get some pups. This was about 5 yrs ago. It cost them $600.00.

Is that not counting the cost of the semen
Is that not counting the cost of the semen
I would assume it is. Performing an AI using frozen semen is very tricky & considering most vets chanrge $35 for a simple puppy shot, getting a frozen semen AI done is NOT going to be cheap!
I do not know the price on semen from Tab, but most folks charge $1000 - or more - depending on the dog.

Its really not that tricky.
You send for the semen, its delivered to your vet where he stores it, until your bitch is ovulating, and then he thaws it and inseminates her.
My vet charges $250, which includes storage for 1 month, ovulation tests(3 max) and insemination.

My vet charges $250, which includes storage for 1 month, ovulation tests(3 max) and insemination.I guess it would really come down to who the semen is stored w/ & the vet who does it.
For example, to get semen from the storage company Pupsicles LLC would cost over $1160. $160 to ship the semen plus Fed-X costs and a $1000 deposit on their shipping tank. The $1000 will be refunded as soon as their tank is returned to them, which is good, but in this case the out of pocket cost just to get the semen shipped to the vet is still over $1160.
And that is just shipping, not counting the stud fee or insemination.
However, the shipping may be cheaper w/ other companies. I am just using Pupsicles as an example.
As to how much it costs, that seems to different from vet to vet. In our area it's about $500, whereas in Stillwater's area it's evidentally much cheaper.
Either way, good luck w/ your endevour! ;)

I suppose it would be well worth it to the person that was paying the bill. We did our dairy cattle that way. However we leased the container and did our own inseminations according to a cycle and a count of days. It isn't cheap. But for the most part highy worth it. As you don't have to feed, transport, house and mess with someone elses dog or them yours. No breed stand no aggression worries. If I were only wealthy enough to afford such. lol . Hell breading dogs across sea's and such all over the nation. It is a way. If it doesn't take though your basically SOL I suppose as normal. But with allot more expence. Woudn't it be neat though to have something from the old dogs back in the early 1900's.

I like the Tab lines, my buddy has a whole yard of them. I personally wouldnt ever buy a dog off Paulie though. Spoke with him before, it was "Send the money, and I'll send you a pup". Cant pick which litter or anything. Its do you want a male or female, pretty much.
Plus, there are soo many well producing sons, i dont see the need to go directly through him. Wellm unless you want to get some pup, and pay an arm and a leg for it.
No disrespect, i just dont like that.

As to the AI, it is 100 bucks a pop here. I knew a guy who had a place set up to extract the semin and freeze it himself. He told me he can get about 60 "Loads" from each ejaculation. He took the semen under a microscope and seperated the real active ones from the lathargic ones. Pretty interesting. Also, at K&V vet supply, under the surgical section you can get a small animal AI kit, for about 30 bucks. It isnt frozen, but could help with difficult breeders. I have never had one AI, but another friend had his done not too long ago, he said from what he saw it wasnt much to it.

60 splits from one service i think he is pulling your leg there. And i doubt they seperate the good sperms lol.

You said yourself you never had it done then why argue about something you havent experienced? There are millions of sperm, but they dont seperate EACH sperm as a split. You need 1000'ssss each split. I believe one of the highest splits was 15 for one service and the dog was a S.A boer boel.

Educate me. Why do you need 1000's for each split? Are you saying that it takes 1000 sperm to impregnate a dog with say...9 pups?

Are you saying that it takes 1000 sperm to impregnate a dog with say...9 pups?Yes, 1/2 of the sperm die after frosting and defrosting, some dont make it to fertilization. Even with how advanced the procedure is getting (placing the sperm directly into the falopian tube) it still requires 1000'ssss.

Ok people getting confused about AI there are two types of AI one is chilled semen and the other is Frozen semen. Chilled semen procedure can be done by your self and is alot cheaper while Frozen semen gotta be done by a professional vet and cost alot more.
