Oh i totally agree with you...I was asking the age because i have a neutered 5 month old and was looking for a dog around the same age if possible...I dont breed because i dont believe i have the skill or experience as of yet to produce healthy, worthwhile puppies

WHY would you want to take these dogs you know NOTHING about? I am almost postive no one on this forum is going to just hand over a pit bull to a complete stranger on a message board. This ain't a place to be looking for free dogs IMO. Actually, NO Place is.

if you just looking for a pet then whats better...going and buying a dog from some BYB thats just going to continue creating more and more crap...or trying to take in a quality dog that can use a good home. I would adopt but i live in south florida and many of the shelters down here dont take in pitbulls so that isnt a option for me

There are plenty of shelters in Florida, dogs get adopted out of them all the time. Better to check a dog out in person than ask for it to be sent to you over the internet. No one here is going to send you a dog without knowing you and what your intentions are.
I just checked Petfinder, there are a BUTT load of pit bulls & mixes up for adoption from shelters and rescue.

You have a neutered male and you were looking for another dog that is the same age.....what as a companion for the dog you have???? Most folks here are seperating their dogs at 5 months, not bringing two more mature dogs together. The only companionship your dog needs is you....two pits together in the hands of a novice is risky...please re-think

ya know cowboy i just dont know what to make of you, here your posting you want this dog right off the bat no questions asked, then i am looking through current threads and i see you yet again in another forum started by maryellen where she is trying to find a good home for a dog thats been in a shelter for 3 years, and there you are again saying i'll take her if you will ship her to me again no questions asked,so i know for a fact that the dog maryellen is giving away is spayed.so whats in my head now since with in the span of a hour you have offered to take 2 dogs no questions asked and i am going to say this honestly is i think your looking for dogs to see if you can fight them.you will probably get upset with me saying this but oh well, thats how your coming off to me.your coming off as a person that wants anything that looks like a pit to see if you can fight it and make some money.

Are you referring to your GF's 9 mo child or dog? Just be mindful that some Pits may not be aggresive to other dogs, but they have very little tolerance for bad, aggressive or dominant behavior from other dogs, and that is how you endanger your dog or someones elses...once the switch is flipped you have a problem.

Look, i think that could go without the "fight them" comment. Why so fast to pass judgement? Just because a person has a couple of pits=fighting them? Hmm i wonder if that same way of thinking has got others into trouble? I think he looks more like he is trying to peddle some pups. I agree with most of the comments.

Where did you get the puppy you have now? As you know ( I hope) there is NO guarantee that pit bulls of ANY age or sex will get along. Even if you bring a new dog into your home & they play fine now, what if that changes? Are you prepared to seperate them 24/7 if that were to happen? Your dog is 5 months old, how can you say you "know it"? Sometimes these dogs don't become DA until they are fully mature, and that could be 3 or more years down the road.
Oh, and ANYONE who owns this breed should KNOW that they do not HAVE to get along & chances are they will not.

I think the "if" should be changed to a "when", unless the dog in question is an AMSTAFF and all working ability has been bred down and out of it. I would not trust one of mine with another. Only fresh pups are allowed to play together, and after10-12 weeks, they need to be watched. This past summer I had 2 3 month olds draw blood on each other like grown dogs. Once they turn on, the switch breaks and there is no going back to Kansas. I am sorry to say it, but Mary Poppins died along time ago, and it is time to face reality or unnecasary pain.

Does That Sound Like Better Advice? Hell No! ...so The Guy Has A Large Yard (if Its True).... And Would Like To Rescue Some Dogs....what Exactly Is Wrong With This? I Dont See Others Offering To Help, Do You? Not Everyone Who Wants Dogs Wants To Breed Them, And Not Everyone Who Wants Dogs Wants To Fight Them. Hell...i've Taken In Dogs Before. Altered Dogs, Intact Dogs, Abused Dogs, Neglected ,dogs Starved Dropped Off Dogs, Forgotten Dogs, Pets 'rehomed' Due To Moves.....doesn't Mean They Were Bred Or Fought. Give The Guy A Chance To State His Intentions And Motivations Before Jumping To Conclusions On This Worthiness And Ethics. How about he posts some pics of his current dog and the yard that may soon house more of these animals?

No your not wrong, however he joined today and wants two dogs sight unseen for pets to add to another dog he says he has at home. I am not concerned about the breeding but the fact that he wants to have at least 3 grown pit bulls together and seems to think they will "do OK". I just think he needs to do some more homework and visit his local pound if all he wants is a few more pets...seems more logical and will achieve his goals quicker, don't you agree.

Well the thing that strikes me, is that he has the belief that getting another bulldog will be a "friend" to the one he has, and his girlfriends. And both arent even a year old yet. I think the advise to give is, hang around for awhile and learn about them before building a yard of dogs. There is a big difference in having one, and two, and then when you keep adding to that, the responsibility increases. So a person who is delusioned enough to think that bulldogs, especially a gamebred one, will be friends, needs to face reallity, learn, and then if still desired, build on the yard.
That is what bothered me. Whether he is breeding/fighting, I dont know, but I have that gut feelling because I see allot of problems awaiting to happen.
How does that sit with you?

I agree. Not only that rescue HAS been suggested to him. Collectors troll boards looking for free dogs all the time. I am NOT suggesting this guy is one but you do not go to a message board offering to take any dog that some one says needs a home. There is something majorly wrong with that picture. Now maybe the guy didn't think of looking into rescue FIRST but I hope he will now. He doesn't sound like he is all that experienced with the breed & I for one am sick of seeing my breed in the headlines because some fool gave some other fool a dog he had no clue what to do with. Read what he has posted in this thread. Would YOU hand him a dog?
