People keep telling me that if I put my pit bull on a chain it will become wild and vicious towards people. Is this true because I see many people put their Pits on a chain.

If you listen to what uneducated and inexperienced people in this area, you too will become this. However if you listen to those who have experience and are educated in such areas, well you know. No this is nothing more than another misconception of the general public.

People keep telling me that if I put my pit bull on a chain it will become wild and vicious towards people. Is this true because I see many people put their Pits on a chain.Whoever told you that is an idiot. Tell them to take that PETA shit somewhere far far away from you. People like that have no experience of owning chained dogs and just repeat what they hear from the media or their PETA meetings. Please don't listen to people like that. Next they will try to convince you that owning pets are worse than owning slaves and that a dog should have the same rights as a human. They are crazy nuts and should never be aloud to be around your dog.

Absolutly not! Chaining a dog will not make him mean. Of course every dog needs their fair share of attention but chaining/teathering a dog won't affect his temperament only neglecting him might. It's good that you're looking into things yourself and not just believing what people, who probably have never been around/owned APBTs, say. We need a lot more people like you.

I dont see da need to chain up a pitbull, especially if you have only one apbt, the main reason the chain is used, is for containment, and especially if you have more than 1 apbt that are game bred, I have a 1yr and 4mnths male pitbull and a 6yr old female neo, none of them are chained up, now if i had more than one pitbull, especially if there are da same sex and game bred, both of them would be on da chain. Good luck.

The only reason people say that is because a chain is synonymous with neglet in their closed little minds that look through rose colored glasses.
The truth is, problems can arise form a dog due to neglect, & neglect can take place on a chain, in a kennel outside, in a kennel inside, or even when the dog roams the house loose.
However, I also believe that a dog with a stable temperament & solid nerves is hard to screw up anyway. That's why I so strict/tough when it comes to dog's with HA issues.

I personally believe that the chain is good for a bulldog. My wife and I were just talking about that tonight. Our house dog does so much better when I put her on the chain during the day. And if you go and buy a 10X10 kennel(which is average) and I buy a 10' chain/axle setup, I have way more room for the dog on my chain than you'll ever have in that kennel, almost 4 times the room!! I have one dog here that hates, I mean is miserable when off the chain! I can take her off of it and work her for a while, put her back on the chain and she'll go to smilin' and work the you know what out of it.
As everyone else said, neglect will harm the dogs disposition. And not necessarily make it HA, could just make the dog unmanagable. If you never walk the dog, or anything else, then try and take it for a walk, it wont know how to act, nor what you want from it.
Also, it is a false statement. Whoever told you that, get away from them, they'll give you some more misinformation!

People keep telling me that if I put my pit bull on a chain it will become wild and vicious towards people. Is this true because I see many people put their Pits on a chain. This could potentially be a very long post-- complete with my own firsthand experiences of the brainwashing tactics used by the people -and their huge organizations- who deliver this false knowledge and dress it up as factual information. It's scary stuff. They manipulate study reports and create illusions to gain public support for their claims-which have no real basis of proof- but they do it in such a way which convinces a lot of people.
They will tell you an APBT on a chain is 2.5 times more likely to bite you- and by goodness they provide study results from the CDC to back it up.
The truth is- there has NEVER been a controlled study of "X" amount of chained APBTs vs. "X" amount of unchained APBTs to support these claims.
Do not listen to these people- and keep them the hell away from your dogs. They don't know diddly squat, but they might have the power to have your dog taken from you.

I have two dogs that are chained and they are very good, well behaved dogs. They are also let off the chain for reducing stress and energy everyday.

prophecy has to be chained ....her chain is very long and shes on it 4 hours of playtime a day... or more... an hour at a time.. it doesnt hurt her one bit.. she knows where she can and cant travel the length of it..when i play with her shes safer still on it.. pretty much she needs to always be undercontrol..for her own safety.. the others are all trained to heal at my ankles...i put them only on leash to walk in public..
so for my dog it didnt change her personality..shes loving and playful and kisses everybody she can get close enough to slober on...
