I just wanted to say I appreciate all you folks, having an open mind, and joining the forum in an attempt to discuss topics with those with (possibly) varying viewpoints as yourself. I can understand that we both need eachother, no matter how much we argue at times. Petbull owners need game-dog enthusiasts to keep the breed true, to ensure your children get to own the same wonderful dogs as you were handed. On the other hand, we need you as by nature, we are sometimes hard-headed, and tend to communicate only within our own "circles". The purpose of this site has always been education, first and foremost, and its good we can all have sensible debates, show people both sides of the spectrum, and hopefully educate a few in the process. As I'm sure you've noticed, people tend to act like their dogs. We are sometimes confronational, and wont back down from a challenge (differing viewpoints)-the same way our dogs wont back down from a challenge. Although I dont agree with breeding pet-quality animals with the overpopulation crisis we are currently facing, I havent noticed anyone advocating that from the new members we have gotten. The wonderful thing about this breed is that they are so versatile, and we can both have the types of dogs that suit us best. APBT's make wonderful pets, as long as you understand what they are at their core, and excersise them sufficiently. I have a problem with fat, couch potato working dogs, but as long as your not breeding them, and you can excersise your mutt, and contain it properly, I can accept that we are all on the same side. The fact of the matter is, there are many groups today working to make our dog of choice illegal, and bar us from owning them. If we dont all do our part, we will fail. And I'm sure you'll find us game-dog.com members arent as bad as initial thoughts may indicate ;) Most of us keep a pet, we properly contain our animals, we dont sway from the standards set forth for these dogs, and we are outspoken opponents of BSL.
I just wanted to let you all know (the ones brave enough, and open-minded enough to join and debate) that it is appreciated, and only beneficial in the long run. Feathers may get ruffled, we'll argue till we're blue in the face, but at the end of the day, differing viewpoints of discussion never hurt anybody ;)

As many mentioned before, if everyone agreed it wouldnt be the same ;), I dont expect everyone to agree with me, or vice versa I guess thats why I can not agree with something but not judge the other person's opinion or belief either...(well, at least I attempt too for the most part)
Although I dont agree with breeding pet-quality animals with the overpopulation crisis we are currently facing, I havent noticed anyone advocating that from the new members we have gotten.
I dont believe in just breeding for pet-quality either because IMO their will be pet quality pups born in working and show litters..so there is NO reason whatsoever to just breed for pets..(thats what shelters and rescues are for)

I never thought any of you were bad to begin with :)
I dont like BSL either since GSD and GSD crosses are on the top of the bite list and fatality list (last time I checked) who knows if and when they could be next, so I dont look at it as a APBT problem I look at it as everyone that has a dog's should be concerned and fight it...

I have actually been bitten by a GSD before, but it was my own fault entirely. That is a perfect example of a dog bred for a specific purpose, which was over-bred, bred for the wrong reasons, and inferior pups were sold to anyone with $$ since they were popular, to produce more inferior pups. A well-bred GSD has a job, and does it extremely well, and although I doubt I'll ever own one, I can respect that. The problem lies with owners who acquire said dogs, and dont understand what they have, think history doesnt apply to them and their dogs, and cause problems. I've met a few GSD's I'd consdier "good dogs", I dont know anything about their pedigrees and what not, but they were bred off working dogs, and placed in the hands of capable owners, and they were wonderful dogs :D

Oh I agree, thats the problem some people dont think when they get a dog they just see that cute fluffy bundle of joy and dont realize its gonna be a 60-70 pound very active dog one day.. what I was trying to say is that dog owners shouldnt look at BSL as it is just a "pit" owners problem...its something that ALL dogs owners should be aware of...:)
Because there are a few people I know that think that just because they dont have a "pit-type" dog that BSL doesnt concern them, well IMO it does

WONDERFUL post!! The pit bull community is vastly divided but, at the end of the day, despite what differences we may have, it is ALL about the bulldog! We must work together to save this breed.
