There do to be a Pit Bull in King Arthur's Court!

Yep, it's that time of year and Birdie has spent that past three weekends working with me at the Connecticut Renaissance Faire and being a breed ambassador.

Everyone loves her the owners, the actors, supporting cast, vendors and most of all, the thousand's of patrons that come to the Faire. Everyone wants to pet her and take pictures of her. Especially since I dress her up each day AND paint her toe nails.

Several reporters have taken pictures of her and I've been told that she's had her picture in several local papers, but haven't received copies of them yet.

In the first three weeks, there have been 20,300+ people at the Faire the five days that Birdie has been there and I think most of them have stopped to photograph her or pet her. I have only heard or been told about 4, that's right, FOUR negative comments! More on the compliments she's recieved after the pictures..

WEEK 1: Saturday - 2800+ patrons

WEEK 2: Saturday - 3850 patrons

Birdie's Service Dog friend Larry. I missed the shot of them kissing. He's a flat coated retriever that works with my friend, Mary.

Yes, I am an EVIL doggie mom. I painted my dog! Everyone loved it and Birdie loved all the attention she got. She mugged for the photographers. (Don't worry - it's acrylic paint that washed off with warm water in the tub)

Two very tired Service Dogs crash in the grass at the Final Joust. They did alot of work that day and they worked together. Really cool to see. I'll post more on that later.

WEEK 3: Saturday - 4129 patrons

Buckaneer Birdie - The Pirate Pit Bull

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a261/hoyden2894/CTRF%202006%20-%20WK3/PICT0511.jpg
Being Columbus Day weekend - Birdie was dressed like a pirate, complete with parrot on her shoulder, striped kerchief and a skull and crossbones on her toosh. The kids loved her.

Birdie was laying down like a good dog, while I took pictures of the Might and Mettle competition. This was quite an accomplishment as one of the things that frightened her is people clanking too close to her in plate mail.

WEEK 3: Sunday - 6004 patrons & Monday - 3557 patrons:

Birdie was modeling a chainmaille dog collar both days. On Monday, we were gate greeters and caused a traffic jam because everyone wanted to pet Birdie. So we had to move down and off to the side.

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a261/hoyden2894/CTRF%202006%20-%20WK3/HPIM2840e.jpg
Birdie and I meet up with Larry and Mary. Birdie and Larry exchange kisses and sniffs. These two love working with each other.

The sad thing is, the Gremlin should be wearing the devil horns, not the dog.

The kid is hell on feet. She almost took out one of the men in Fight the Knight game. He went to block an upward swipe of her sword and she went in to head butt him in the crotch.

He let her win and got the hell out of the ring.

FORGET THE DOG:

I agree. The amazing thing is alot of people think that too.

I had so many people come up to me and THANK ME for showing this breed in a positive image as a service dog. I was really taken back by it.

You should have seen the kids sitting with her and ON her at the puppet shows, I'll have to take my camera with me when we go see them this weekend.

One more weekend left, I'm hoping we see at least 6,000 more people.

LOL! She is one quick witted little kid, I can say that for her. There is never a dull moment with her around.

I agree. And after the last three weeks of Faire, I think we need to attack the media.

20,300+ people and only FOUR negative comments!!! We still have one more weekend to go. With no rain forecasted, I hoping we see 6,000 more people.

I couldn't walk three feet with out someone asking to pet her or to take her picture. People asked me if I would take THEIR pictures with her or if they could take pictures of their kids with her!

We played for hours in the Toy tent with all the little knights, pirates, barbarians, castles and pirate ships and none of the parents or kids were bothered by her. The owner of the booth loves it when she comes to hang out because the kids follow her like a siren song!!

I'm bringing my camera so I can take more pictures.

definately get more pictures, and if i was you i would get some signatures or video with folks stating how good she was and then try and get it on the local news then go national with it.that would be excellent public press for our breed.

Hmm, I do have access to a camera guy. He shoots all our TV commercials. If he's there, I'll have him shoot footage of Birdie playing with the kids.

Especially footage of Birdie working with her friend Larry.
