View Full Version : Bad news...I didn't get my pup, i gotta start all over :(
I don't know if I am out of line by posting this but if anyone might have some advice or recommendations please feel free to PM me.
Well I havent been posting much for the last couple of months , in the hopes that I would of had my pup now. I was dealing with an individual who I will not name, but breeds confirmationally correct UKC american pit bull terriers. Think along the lines of Lar San style dogs. I wont get into too much detail on the specifics but the breeding that this individual was doing didnt take, and the one that did I wasnt able to get a pup from.
I thought I had found the place that I was going to get my dog. I am soo disheartened. My past research allowed me to narrow it down to about 3 kennels and out of them this is the only one that seemed to have what i wanted and acted half way professional.
After prepairing and waiting for over 3 months I have realized that this is not gonna happen and now i have to start over or something.
As most of you probably know, if you do your research you will find a lot of 90+ lbs mutts and backyard breeders when doing research. It really bothers me.
My perfect dog would be one that is gonna stay in the standards. I would prefer it not to really go over 60lbs. I want to get a male pup . I don't want a hippo or anythign like that.
I get so frustrated, because everytime i look I see nothing but hippos :( I don't really want to adopt, because i want to know exactly what I am getting etc. I just have this sneaky suspicion that I will NEVER get my pup:(
Thanks for listening to my rant. advice is appriciated

Im thinking maybe u should talk to some people on this site because there are a lot of great people on this site that have some of the best dogs i've ever seen. I think if u can gain the trust of some people on here that have dogs that look good to u than maybe one day u'll be lucky enough to get a dog from one of them.
i am always willing to talk to people.
I hope that my posting record speaks for itself .. as well :)

I got a question for u, why did u choose to go for a ukc type dog instead of a well bred gamebred dog.
You know I am not really sure why i aimed at a show style dog at first.. Game bred woudln't be out of the question. Maybe i just thought it would be easier to deal with someone who bred show style dogs, as i don't really know anyone who breads game bred dogs very well...
I would be very pleased with a well bred dog like Marty's lil bit ...I realize that I have to take a different approach now.

That really sucks. If you like the breeder, why don't you just wait for their next breeding? I know waiting for a puppy is one of the hardest things to do, but if you've found a source you're comfortable with, its better than going out and having to sort through kennels again. Also, there's always a possibility that one of the placements will fall through and you may be able to get one of those pups anyway.
I'm curious about the kennel. I keep a list of rednose breeders in my favorites, for future reference and whatnot. Is there any way you could tell me who they are, via PM?

it would be much easier to deal with a dogman, in general, than most conformation breeders, epecially ones that sell a lot of pups. the outcome of the breeding will be something you like more IMO, as performance bred animal excel in many areas over conformation bred dogs. just keep your eyes open and money in hand, there will be something good that comes along soon enough.
yes, thank you. I am thinking i will just go for game bred.
I will not post the individuals name or anything. I need to request my deposit back as well. Although their site now claims the deposit is non refundable...
without getting into too much detail , i failed to get a dog, due to extenuating circumstances. There were 2 breedings and one of them didnt take.
i do have one dog man in mind that i want to talk with to at least get a sense of direction / guidance.

you need to try and get your money back, if it didnt say that before and it does after the fact, that is internet fraud aka a felony.
check your pm, i sent you a message.

Semo,
Are you trying to stick to breeders in your area? If so that may be the first problem. I have asked people here for help to locate reputable breeders in my area but I didn't limit myself to only my area. Some of the best breeders are just a roadtrip away. I know the problem with doing an internet search and finding all those oversized dogs, they are everywhere.
P.S.
Have you tried doing a search for your favorite bloodlines? Try typing the bloodline into the search engine and see what pops up. That worked for me
i am open to getting a dog anywhere in the usa. I expect to have it shipped to the closest airport. I learned very early on to look past driving distance ;)

Dont get disheartened, know what you want and dont settle for less. I waited for 2 years on a breeding, bitch hasnt dropped a healthy pup to this day, but we're still trying. Owner missed when trying to get her stuck a few times, and she didnt take, or the one litter she popped out, came out stillborn and premature, and she ate them all but 2 who were bottle fed, and didnt make it. Stick with it, dont settle for less, and it will eventually work out in the end. Keep your head up, getting quality dogs isnt an overnight deal, although if you've got the bug like we do, it seems like an eternity waiting for another month, two months, or even a few years. I will get a pup out of the bitch when it all works out, you've just got to be patient.
ya, i am gonna look at this in the perspective that it is probably for the best, and will get a game dog, and hopefully be happier.

If a bitch is having that many problems with having a healthy litter then why wait? At some point you gotta get your refund if you paid a deposit or show up with a weapon and demand it. It's the American way.

Hey trust me I know the feeling. I have my wife in my ear almost everday saying how bad she wants another puppy and I want one probably worse than she does. Find a breeder that will answer all your questions and also find a breeder that is picky about who his dogs go to. I'm not saying someone who says he's looking for a weightpull home or a show home I mean someone who just wants his dog to go to a caring, loving home where training will be implemented and vet visits are regular for shots and such.
ya, i am gonna look at this in the perspective that it is probably for the best, and will get a game dog, and hopefully be happier.

It's the American way.Because she is the defintion of the word bulldog, and her father was as well. Considering this pup is a gift, from my mentor, I dont think I would accomplish much by either of the above scenarios. If it takes 10 more years, so be it. I know it will be worth it. The only time she has successfully took, was when she delivered the pups early, and killed them, most were stillborn anyways. After that, we skipped a heat, tried to get her bred again, missed. Skipped another heat, and she is due to come in anytime now. He has opted to skip this heat as well, and wait until the next to hook her, its shaping up to be a long, cold winter, and thats something we dont need to stack against her. Shes still young, and theres no rush. If she is 10 years old without a successful litter, maybe then we will need to rethink her litter possibilities. I havent given up on her, but I also didnt completely wait for an animal either. I'm still acquiring dogs, but I'll always have a spot ready and waiting for a pup off this bitch when the time comes. If you are only looking to care for one dog until he/she passes, then I'd have to say wait on that breeding. If you plan on a yard, it would be stupid to wait for years for that one dog, when you could move forward and start with others now,and add that dog later. It was my understanding Semo was just looking for a great pet, if thats the case, then I stand by it-wait until you find something of the quality you need, and dont make exceptions.

In your case I agree. If it's someone you personally know and or if you know the dog/s then yeah it's worth the wait. I'd say keep looking also Semo.
My plan is to find two nice dogs from reputable breeders and breed them to so I won't have to keep looking or keep hoping that breeder will have a litter when I'm in the market. I will not by any means be breeding for the public or anyone else. I will probably only breed them twice in my lifetime and give the other dogs to game-doggers. IMO that's the best way but then again that's just my opinion.

I think that is a sign that this bitch can not have healthy pups, if she does not take and she has still births then I would look for another pup only if you plan to breed it. If its just for a pet then it wouldn’t matter, things like this are genetic and could be past down to future pups.

This bitch has almost silent heats, and its extremely difficult to get her bred, at any time, even when flagging, she will not let a male mount her. At this point, I'm more liable to believe it was due to our error, than her problems. Shes only been stuck once each time, had it been done every other day, she probably would of conceived. I see what your saying and agree, but I think its too early to rule it a medical problem just yet. I dont plan to breed the pup, I'm not a breeder, just like good dogs.

yes I have heard of such. That is why I don't take deposites. Just a list of prospects and when I do deside to breed I make calls to that list. In order of their request I do what I can. Who is the lady on that picture. She has the most beautiful hair. Wow.
i have everything sorted now. Here is an update.
I got my deposit back in less than 24 hours after the request. I also want to say that from my perspective it isnt 100% the breeders fault. there were circumstances that I will not fully mention here. Lets just say that there was an unreliable third party and a failed breeding.
I am sure they are good people and all , i just felt it was best to move on etc.
I should be situated now and expect to have a pup very early in 2007.
Thank you everyone for the help.

i wish you good luck on your search cause i know exactly what you mean you find something you really like it can really crush you when you expect to get it and you end up with oput it i was raising orfn pits and somebody came and broke into my facility and stole everything i had and i found out who it was seen the dogs went to the cops with the papers and told them i wanted my dogs back and they said i had no power to get them and the people went and filed charges on me when i went to get them back and after that was settled the dogs were gone and i havent found them since and that broke my heart deeply so good luck on your searchyou need to try and get your money back, if it didnt say that before and it does after the fact, that is internet fraud aka a felony.
