Well , I haven,t been online all week. I put a hard one in with my pups. I Came home friday past to find my new pup Rocky almost dead in his crate, had to rush him to the vet where he spent 3 days on IV. When I got him from the shelter he was sneezing a little, this developed into puss running out of his eyes and nose and trouble breathing very quickly. I brought him home monday , he is still on medication and not 100 % yet , but is much better. My boy Sammy also developed pussy eyes , running nose and coughing. He is on medication now also and slowly improving. Let me tell you, the stress of both my pups being sick and trying to work while calling the the vet to check on Rocky and worrying about Sammy at home has tottaly wiped me out this week, lol. Not to mention the hefty vet bills with the holidays right around the corner, but really is a small price to pay as long as the boys are ok ;). Hopefully will be 100 % recovery for both soon.

hang in therepneumonia/ broncial infection. He was also dehydrated and his immine system was down. I guess the poor little fella wasn,t well looked after before I got him. Apparently kennel cough can turn into pneumonia and i think was the case with Rocky.

You would expect the pound to do a better job in keeping down infections but Hell, what do I know! Glad the little guy is doing better. I feel your pain and have had friends bring me dogs off breeding I did for them and bring crap on my yard and the pups die. I was ready to kill them and run them through the mud as far as a kennel. But I have moved on and better off anyway.

Thank goodness they are doing better. Recently lost a pup we got at the flea market-got her because we felt sorry for her- had pneu monia, dehydration and complete system failure. Glad you had better news.

Rescue places & pounds can be pretty rotten about vaccinating for kennel cough (for that matter any infectious disease), and as you unfortunantly found out - with pups or immune deficient dogs, KC can be deadly. I am so glad you caught it in time. BTW, congrats and praise from me on adopting Rocky!

Yeah, I am glad you(and the vet ) pulled the puppies through. shelters and pounds do NOT do a good job oftaking care of dog's health...some of them. They are underfunded and staffed by people that do not have training...some of them. Now you know. It is sad, really. The pounds and shelters depend on citizens commitment to care of animals.
I am happy that you saved your pups. They are part of the lucky few.
