MASON CITY, Iowa A veterinarian says ten dogs seized in a dogfighting case in Mason City can't be rehabilitated and put back into society.

Jeff Cornick of Pioneer Animal Hospital is recommending the dogs -- nine pit bulls and a Rottweiler -- be euthanized.


Cornick told a Cerro Gordo County judge during a hearing yesterday that the dogs are very fearful, a characteristic of dogs involved in fighting. He says if they have bitten someone and gotten results, they'll keep doing it.


Seven dogs were seized from a house on August fourth. Three others were seized from another house several days later.


Two people are charged.


The judge says he'll issue a ruling soon.

The vet might be full of crap. On the other hand, I don't think its safe to assume everyone involved in "dogfighting" is a cajun rules fastlane dogman. A lot of punks probably DO abuse curs then "fight" them.


There aren't any statistics on it, but I'd bet dollars to doughnuts that most "dogfights" that happen are NOT cajun rules contract matches with dogs bred for the job. I'd bet most are fairly spontanius fights with curs and no "rules" to speak of, and the only "schooling" those involved had was a humane society flyer on "dogfighting".

I mean, seven dogs is a pretty darn small yard for someone breeding for game dogs.



So in this case, who knows? I'd like to see the dogs involved.

Rules or not. Fear of humans isn't a sign of shit but abuse from humans. Has nothing at all to do with fighting a dog. Cajun rules, English rules, Yankee rules, Japan rules, european federation rules, south africa rules it doesn't matter fear of humans isn't part of it. Ghetto rules is sorta like no rules so ya you can have a fear issue there. Bottom line these are probably adoptable dogs put to death using the fighting shit just to justify it. Lame excuses but the real issue is someone doesn't like the dogs for some reason and wants to justify to the public for their sin saying that the dogs have a sign of being faught. Even if the dogs have been faught big shitten deal fighting doesn't change a Pit Bulls family loyalty. It really doesn't change a damn thing to me. So what if it has been faught.
