Region 8 Man Facing Trial on Animal Cruelty, Illegal Dog Fighting
Charges

SEPTEMBER 11, 2006 - Posted at 6:07 a.m. CDT

SEARCY, AR - An animal cruelty trial is to begin this week in White
County Circuit Court.

Donald "Jerome" Jolly faces numerous counts of animal cruelty and
unlawful dog fighting.

In July, the Sheriff's office and humane society volunteers found almost
two dozen dogs neglected and found a fighting ring on Jolly's
property.

The dogs had no water and one dog was dead.

The trial is to begin tomorrow morning.

Animal cruelty is punishable by up to a year in jail and a maximum
$1,000 fine.

Unlawful dog fighting carries a penalty of up to six years in prison.

If convicted, Jolly also would be responsible for humane society
expenses for boarding and caring for the animals, estimated so far at
nearly $16,000.

...

$16,000!!!!! for a month and a half!!!!!!!!!!!! Man, I gotta see the setup that burns that kinda funds!!!!
Must be a doggy spa. Massages, whirlpool, steak, heated beds, warm baths, ...

Just another example of how the system is rippping people off. Even if the guy is guilty, why should that justify ripping someone off. The penalty is set"up to a year".... but it seems that the system is set up to do whatever it takes a mind to do.

I wish I could get paid that damn much to tend to some dogs. I would be rich in no time.
