I was wondering where would be a good place to find chain at a good price. At the hardware store I have been buying chain the price is about $3.00 a foot. Also I was looking to find a place to find some good o-rings,swivels, s-hooks and axles?

That's crazy! At my hardware store I pay $1.09 a foot for a chain heavy enough to hold Mia, a 60 pound dog. I've never gotten chain anywhere but the hardware store but I imagine the shipping must be expensive!

<!-- / message --><!-- controls -->I get my chain at Harbour Freight Tools. They run a sale all the time. A 5/16" chain, 20' long with 2 hooks(which you wont need) will run about 23 bucks. A 14' chain, 3/8" thick will run about 14 bucks , again with the hooks. Just put the hook to the side. As far as the O rings are concerned(I also get my bullsnaps from there@1.50), I get mine from Eppinette Kennel supply, about $2 each, BIG rings, welded together. As to the axles, if you'll pm me, I can make one for you that works very well. I still get my swivels at the hardware store, the large ones here are about 5 bucks.

Oh, and instead of s hooks, I use laplinks.

Thats pretty cheap for a chain sufficient to hold a grown bulldog. I dont remember exactly what I pay, but its close to 2 bucks a foot, if not more. I buy 5/16's, or 1/4'' only. The expensive part is finding good hardware. I'm sure you have to have at least one friend with a connection at an auto shop, or junkyard, or just a packrat. Ask if they've got any old junk axles laying around you could have. I have access to as many axles as I can use for free, once they are bent, most places will just give them away if you let them know what they are for, and you pull them yourself.
