well my puppy is gettin spayed friday...
does it hurt them ... i just dont want to see her in pain :(
It does, (I won't sugar coat it) as spaying is internal, and therefore more painful than the surgery for males, (external), but it's managable.
Most likely she'll go home with some pain meds. Just keep her low key, and keep an eye on her incision. If you notice any changes, i.e, warm to the touch, seems to be getter redder and/or swelling, call your vet back and have it looked at.
Expect her to come home lethargic and some what "dopey" from the being put under. She'll probably just want to sleep it off. Her appetite may be low as well.
But
it's a very common surgery and most dogs do very well and bounce back in no time.
Best of luck to her.(and you!;) )

No more painful than having a C-section or kidney stones.

Make sure you get the plastic collar for her so she doesn't chew/lick the incision.

No more painful than having a C-section Ummmm..........ouch. I had a c-section & I didn't think I was ever going to walk again.
As for the dogs, all the females I had done seemed a little lethargic & down for a couple of days & by the 3rd or 4th day were trying to get into everything & chase everything (but don't let them! ;) ).

I have had several kidney stones. I wanted to jab a knife in and dig it out myself. Have had them blasted and one had to be pulled out with that scoptic deal. Them things could make a person become a serial killer. Then again I am probably one step from that anyway.
