ST. CHARLES TOWNSHIP — A 23-year-old Aurora man was sentenced to two years in prison Tuesday for shooting three dogs in July of 2005.

Justin Wackerlin of the 400 block of Bangs Street pleaded guilty to aggravated cruelty to animals in July, admitting that he shot and killed his neighbors' pitbull, rottweiler and huskie with a shotgun.

Wackerlin will also have to serve 30 months probation on a related weapons charge after he is released, according to the Kane County state's attorney's office. He must also undergo a psychological evaluation and complete any recommended treatment, and pay restitution to the dogs' owners, prosecutors said.

I can't say whether or not he got what he deserves because it's very common nowadays for people to be wrongfully sentenced. What was done was truly the crime of a insane being and idiotic. Why were those dogs targeted? Just some sicko seeking gore huh? I pray they got the right person.

Not enough information to form an oppinion that would be fair. Where were the dogs at, What lead up to this event. Did he do it to be mean or were they just roaming the neighborhood. Where they chasing his kids or did he do it out of spite? If he did it to be mean he should die by hanging by they neck with a rope. If not then he should be let go. That is how I see it no grey area.

He deserves it. If that was my dogs he shot and killed, he better thank god he went in prison for two years. I would of made his life a living hell.

It depends if his dogs were on his own land or mine. If they were getting after my sheep or chickens I would shoot them dead and go after the owner next. And sue the living hell out of them. example. Leon down the road from me had a rat terrier that got into my chicken coop and killed over 80 birds. 80X$6.50 is more than his dog and he is worth to me. So I shot his dog and sued him for the birds, the repair to the coop and the chicken wire it tore up. Plus cost of feed and upbringing of new laying hens and roosters of age to breed and the compensation for loss of income. 35 minutes of that dog cost him several thousand dollars plus court fee's. Not even 3 months later his shepherd dog killed two of my sheep costing him $4500 more and another dog. He now has a restraining order that if he or any of his family or pets enter my property they will be arrested and sued. I am done pissing around with people. I was nice the first couple of years and let some shit slide and gave warnings. The warning peroid is over. Also I have the leagal right to shoot any threat to my livestock and poultry. Any threat. I made an example out of that bastard and will do so for any other prick that lets their pets kill and roam free. Oh and Leon is a relative of mine. I don't show cousins or any other relative any favor. I am not his buddy. However I hope to assume that this fellow went to jail for killing dogs in someone elses yard or for no legal reason. I would never kill a dog just because it entered my land. I will do my level best to run it off with out shooting it. But I can't afford to loose more livestock or birds. I don't even allow my dogs to do that crap.I can be a persons best friend or their worst enemy. It depends on how they treat me. I am not good at forgiving tresspasses. I know I should be but I am just not. I would hope that no one on this site would let their dogs run loose. If you do then when your dog comes up missing or dead it is your own fault. And going after some one that had to defend his own may get you shot too. I believe a person has full right to defend his own land at all cost. I also believe if this person did this just to be mean he should hang by a rope from his neck till dead. Justis must be searved either way.
