Itching and Scratching.

My dog seems to be scratching a lot by her butt area right above the tail. She also keeps scatching her left ear too. She seems to be scratching both places periodically during the day. I checked her and she doesn't seem to have fleas and inside her ears are clean.

Any suggestions on how to stop the itch or what may be causing this?

Well, the reasons can be many and may be due to, but not limited to:

could be environmental, (based on where your dog spends most of her time), ranging from mold spores in the air, to the carpeting on your floor.
could be bacterial, fungal or even due to yeast organisms
could be due to something nutritional. could be parasites.

VERY hard to say without actually seeing her, and imo, your best bet would be to take her to your vet so a proper evaluation/diagnosis can be made.

Flea allergies from the sounds of it... Same symtoms as Joy, stray pitbull... She's being medicated for it, plus frontline... Do you have her on any flea medication?

j/c as to why,
if you don't see any fleas/and/or dirt, why you would want to treat it for fleas?

steriod for the itching and if not fronline get some adams shampoo to bath it in,,,last for a few days if outside
