UK -- French film star Brigitte Bardot on Friday slammed a new Geneva law requiring that all dogs be muzzled in public parks, adopted this week after a toddler was mauled by a pitbull."I don't think that a Yorkshire or a lapdog presents a great danger to the population," Bardot told the daily Tribune de Geneve.

"Unfortunately, dogs are paying the price for the ignorance, irresponsibility and bad behaviour of their masters," the animal rights activist added.

The Geneva government's decision on Monday to require muzzling of the city's 30,000 dogs has sparked public outrage, and calls for measures to restrain only pitbulls and bulldogs.

"We could also muzzle those who drive us nuts on public transport with their loud and edifying telephone conversations," one irate reader said in a letter to the same daily.

Well I guess if there was a law that said my dogs had to be muzzled at all times in public parks (not that I take mine to dog parks, but we do go for walks in regular parks) then I want every other dog muzzled too.. a friend of mine muzzled his husky for "safety" and he got loose and ended up getting chewed up pretty bad by a rotti that wasn't muzzled, couldn't defend himself.

IMO, the answer is serious crimminal penalites for anyone who's dog is guilty of an unprovoked bite on a human. By that I mean jail time. But here is a question: What do you do about bozo's who let their dogs run loose and don't register them? By the way, and this might make some folks mad, but on the whole, Pitbulls as a breed seem to attract way more "at risk" owners. How do you control and deal with retards who either can't manage their dogs or who want dogs for the wrong (anti-social) reasons?

I like her. The women there are smarter than the men for sure.
