just had a ? for the board. i know that some lines like Mayday, Alligator, Mayfield can throw large dogs. but what would be the general consensus about size limit. i've read that many people consider anything over 80 lbs should be viewed with suspicion. i'm asking cause it seems a lot of people nowadays are passing off really big dogs as pure apbts and getting papers for them from the main registries, making it all look legitimate.

Guess it just takes time to learn what dog belongs to what line. I know my female's mother is heavy on OFRN according to CB then her father has all kinds of stuff.. jeep, paladin, something off of eli..etc etc.. I guess its just scatterbred in the end..

It takes time to learn. But, in the end it all comes down to what works for you.
I feed some scattrerbred dogs.

maybe it's just me, but I've seen some Sorrell's dogs that look "bullier" than most. Some are heavier, some are shorter, and lippier than dogs from alot of other lines. Some of the old pics I've seen of Corvino dogs also appear to be larger with the looser jowels....

Oh yeah its not a matter of wanting a certain line or whatever.. I am more interested in how good a dog is it. And I wouldn't trade mine for anything, not even the new pup that got dropped on me. Hopefully I'll have a ped up on him soon too.

are you really a prison guard?
Yep... well the politically correct term is "correctional officer" but I prefer prison guard. Prison guard supposedly has a negative ring to it because in the old days back when you could put the pain on a mouthy inmate and nobody said boo.. now its all lawyers, and rights, and use of force rules... blah blah.. liberal crap..aclu..peta.. nazi stuff..

Maybe if prisons weren't so nice to be in these days, more people would think twice before they did something that could land them in there. For God sakes, they got all the comforts of home!!

Look at some of the old Komosinski dogs. Game as could be, but looked very bully with lots of skin. You dont see too many people breeding that line nowadays. I know those dogs ran big as well. Could some people with knowledge of the Komosinski dogs comment or post peds on them???

yes, i know of his kennel (nice dogs). i've noticed a lot people breeding so-called ofrn nosed dogs that run real big. what would be the upper limit for the red dogs?

what's the deal with the registries giving out papers to so many of these cross bred dogs anyways? i have nothing personal against these dogs. some actually look pretty nice and i'm sure their great pets. but doesn't it make the whole registration process a joke???????? not trying to offend anyone, just my honest opinion.

To get back to the original question, because it interests me, I would say it's not uncommon for there to be legit big pitbulls in the 75 pound range. We also have to take into consideration that over time, unless you're inbreeding, you'll probably have natural added size, just like with people. So if Colby's Pincher was 70 pounds in the early 1900's, then by now there should be legit pits in the 100 pound range.
However, it's hard to say that's the case because we know that some of the bigger pulling dogs were mixed.
I would say that in 1985, before all the mixing started there were 70 to 85 pound bulldogs that were probably true pitbulls (Houston's Koa was a purebread, Bettes' Bighead was probably). By the late 80's I would guess that a lot of people were mixing dogs and hence you get the 100 plus pounders.
I'd be suspicious of dogs in the 90's, but honestly I even like the great big ones so whatever suits you.

I think the ADBA is going to start asking for DNA certification to prove parentage on suspicious dogs, but it's too late to go back and ask for it on the old ones and would cause too much trouble. So either way you'll have mixing. It wouldn't be in the ADBA's best interest to ban pulling dogs with Eddington blood in them because that's such a huge part of the pulling community and would anger so many people.

LMAO!!! Some what true, no rent, no work, and lots of exercise. I was in the halls 4 a while T.V. for only one hour. when i was there it was fun I ate every one elses food, the only thing i needed to live good was a girl once a week or something. Shit i worked out every day came out all cut.
Still you never see the other side. You can get realy injured or die. I haven't been in the big dog house yet but got court in a couple of days, but you get lots of exercise and you get buff or cut.

Today when getting my monthly feed from a friend/teacher, I happened to ask about the Kosminski dogs. He told me that almost all the dogs Walter owned were put down when he died. Just a handfull got out and went to dogmen. He also told me that W.K. had a white bull terrier that was a GAME dog. The bull terrier was incorporated into his breeding program. That explains a lot.
