First off, there is no such thing as an "alligator pit". They are American Pit Bull Terriers. Now, the dog may be of Alligator heritage, but the problem is...which one? There are soooooo many Alligator's & Gator's that without seeing a ped from an honest owner/breeder I wouldn't believe much of anything.
Now, about your dog's head size. He/she's just a pup! Up until about the age of 2, your dog will go through many growth spurts where the head seems to big for the body, then to small for the body, & so on. And not only that, this breed is NOT supposed to have a big head. Head size is played up by your typical bybs & peddlers in an effort to make their dogs look/sound cool & in an effort to peddle pups for more money.
My suggestion is to just sit back, feed him/her a quality food, provide plenty of love & playtime & enjoy the puppy stage as he/she will be grown up soon enough. :)

I think you just need to let your pup grow, she's only 5 months old. Besides, who cares how big her head is? That don't give or take anything from her. Don't have her pull weights she's still just a young puppy. She's only 5 months. She doesn't need muscles right now. She just needs to be fat, loved pup. You can worry about her getting swolled up when she's about a year old. By the way, "Gator Mouth" is a made up term. So, in other words, you don't know any background about your dog and no one can tell you what bloodline the pup is.

I have her pull weights (Not a lot just enough 2 give her muscles) her body got bigger that way i kno Pitbulls are not bred for having big heads but hers looks kinda small but anyways. The man i bought her from said Gator Mouth so I assume Alligator since I didnt kno what "Gator Mouth" was.

i would stop the weight pulling completly until at least a year or so. i would just walk her and let her play. you might screw her up with weight pulling at such a young age. she still just a pup. no matter how much weight shes pulling shes still to young.

Truth is, most of those type of peddlers just say the bloodlines they've heard. They don't know the actual background of the animal. They're just trying to make a quick buck.

you should take those chains off of her. thats way to much for a puppy. also stop with the weights she has plenty of time to get use to it. shes only five months it will be just as easy for her to get use to it after a year or two. your going to end up screwing your dog up.

I heard pulling weights before 2 years could be detremental to the Dog's development. I don't know if that is true or not though.

She looks like she needs a bath.
Is she raised outdoors or indoors? I am not a big fan of leaving a dog outside all the time. Those chains are way too big for her. You are seriously going to do some damage to your dog if your not careful.

Then that person was either a) ignorant or b) just flat out lied to you as their is no such thing as a "gator mouth" pit bull. That term is just yet another term made up by & thrown around by bybs & peddlers who have absolutely NO clue what a true APBT is nor do they care.
As for the weigtpulling, everyone is right. You shouldn't even begin to have her due light weight until she is at least a year old. At five months you won't be building up muscle, but rather will be screwing up her bones & joint alignment & causing serious ligament & tendon damage no matter how light the weight might seem to you.

Gator Mouth>????? LOL ,YOU GOT PEDDLED!!!!!!!! no breeder with intentions on bettering the breed will tell you "gate Mouth"or"Gator Mouth". lol, stuff like this kills me. i saw a guy the other day walking a nice 28-35lb male. i ask him "how is he bred"...he replies...Pure Red Nose.....i had my tripple bred mayday male with me, which is a rednose. he ask me what bloodline mine was from, i replied,"Pure Rednose". Im sick and tired of people being miseducated, then they find me. i try to teach, and a lot of folks around where i live dont like to listen.
Ps. The Term "Gate Mouth" came from the spade shape of the apbt top and bottom jaw bones. And for a dog to have this shape of head, when oversized looks a lot like a gator.bot the gator name didn't get popular off of looks.

Yeah, here in Vallejo, the most popular "bloodlines" are "red-nosed" pits and "blue-nosed" pits. I don't even try to explain to people who labor under this misaprehension...LOL....I either tell them that Blue is a rescued street dog or a rare "freckle-nose"!
I hope you will listen to these other Mookie and take that "huge" chain off your pup and stop having her pull weights. Just play with her and love her...(and bathe her), She'll grow up soon enough.

Me again??.YUP!... what you are doing by having that chain on your dog like that is creating a "man-biter". Fellow dogmen&women here is 1 that has stepped out looking for info, and came to the right place.Mookie has been mis educated and must get positive help quick before he or she creats a monster that ends up on the news 1 day and is the reason for a "pitbull" ban in that area or state.
Love your dog. Treat your dog like you would want to be treated as somthing that depended on somthing else to take care of you and keep you alive and healthy.^^^^got kicked off^^^.
Understand that you are dealing with a GAME ANIMAL that once developed is a force no other breed of dog can compete. Eaither the hunt, or just an all around good dog that loves you, will always be there for you, and your family. On any level of that, no other dog can match IMO. OK.. The pulling thing......The reason they are saying wait a year, is that, your dogs mental compasity isnt there strong enough, and niether is her body.IMO 10-15lbs vest for a 6-7 month old pup is ok for muscle gain. But PULLING is totally diffrent. Im really not an expert on the whole pulling thing, cause i just never saw the point. I tried the pulling thing with a pup i had a while back and all it did for me was a dog that by 1 1/2 yrs would damn near hurt me on the end of the leach. When i say STOP i mean it damnit!!!!!! But wouldnt only because i praised the pull so much.Thats it from me mookie. I really hope you are not influenced by ignorance, and end up doing somthing stupid.

I love my dog she is so beautiful and well mannered she never tries to pick a fight with my Rottweiler and she loves attention. She hardly ever barks so I could keep her in the house if I wanted. She runs around the backyard most of the day playing with my Rottweiler and I don't think she plans on being a killer.

A friend of my daughter's was over one night. Munkee was hanging out with them & it was getting close to bed time, he let out a HUGE yawn & she said "oooooh he's a gator mouth!! Look how wide his mouth opens!!" I nearly fell down I was laughing so hard.
Like everyone says, love your pup, take care of her & become as responsible an owner as you can be! Another thing, she is 5 months old? Just because she is playing with your Rottie now is NO guarantee that she will not be dog aggressive in the future.

take the chains off her before you ruin her bone structure. do not let her play unsupervised with the rottie, if the rottie gets pissed at her one bite and the pup is dead.

2- get that damn chain off her, it does NOTHING
3- STOP the weight pull till she is older
4- Without peds she could be anything
and
5- you clearly are uneducated, please stop and LEARN everything u can.

I already put new pics of her at 5 months now the ones with her sitting down and the one with the chain are old she is under 80s to present. I haven't really raised much dogs from puppies. My dad usually does it. I usually take care of them when they get older this is really the first pit bull puppy I dealt with from 6 weeks old beside the rottweiler i raised from a puppy. I guess thats why i said something about her head. I read on a site with a link I think its www.apbtconformation.com (http://www.apbtconformation.com) it said u should if your dog is under a year u should introduce them to light weights to get them in the hang of weightpulling but not a lot since all there tendons and bones are not finished growing

Look Mookie, I am no pit bull expert, but...I would consider listening to some of the experts on this forum. Sometimes they do not express themselves in a very good way...I mean they may call you names and stuff, BUT that is not because they do not want to help you, it is because their love of their favorite breed makes them resent what they see as your mistakes and speak sharply to you. So just ignore that and listen to the real advice, which is to "go slow" Go slow with the weight pulling. She isn't even a year old. You can train her for that later. You can do obedience stuff with her. I am sure she would "love" to be in the house with you. APBT's are the most "people loving" breed ever and want to be with their human more than anything. Why not let her in the house? You can use that opportunity to housebreak her. Also, leaving her and your Rottweiler alone in the yard together is NOT a good idea. Even having them in the yard with you watching is not the best idea. An internet friend of mine got a pit bull puppy who was 12 weeks old and had a male of 1 &1/2 years. She was letting them play together not 3 feet from them and the older dog bit the puppy in the head, just a little too hard and crushed his skull. Imagine how she feels. The puppy was unsavable...12 weeks old and now it is dead. She had to have it put to sleep. This lady has had dogs her whole life and has certificates in animal behavior and training...just one unforeseen crunch...and that's it. And the older dog was "playing". He just didn't realize his strength.
So be careful with having the dogs together. Don't leave them alone. Do you have some sort of contingency plan if they do decide to get in a fight?
Dog fights can happen in a flash with NO warning! Puppies can awfully annoy older dogs sometimes. And females don't tolerate a lot from other dogs(why do you think bitch gets used the way it does?). I don't know if your rottie is a male or a female..
Your puppy is adorable, please do not get insulted by what people have said, but consider that you have only had the puppy for less than a year and she will live to be well over ten, so you are gonna have years for the weight pulling. It is hard to be patient when you are young, but...slow down..enjoy your time with Dice. Work on feeding her up and playing with her and getting her to heel, sit, stay...
Remember that all that advice is for the benefit of the DOG, not personal attacks on you. Just ignore the tone and consider following some of the advice and sticking around to learn a whole lot more so that you can have years of happy, healthy dog owning ahead of you.
Gonna go look at the new pics now.

Yes, I know, most dogs...pit bulls included, have inhibitions against biting puppies. The poor older dog just bit the little puppy a little too hard. He was playing, really. It's really tragic! I was not there but the poor lady who owns the dog ...you can imagine how she feels. She says the pup went limp and the older dog nudged him...like "what's wrong?" then went and hid in his crate.
I don't think it is very likely to happen, but then a lot of people think their dogs will not fight each other either.
I have another tragic story about the GSD and the springer spaniel who lived together as best of friends for five years. Their owner went to work one fine day and received a call from her neighbors that her dogs were fighting. When she got home, AC and the fire department were there already and both dogs were so lacerated that they both had to be euthed. What set them off? No one knows. Perhaps the fight started because the neighborhood squirrels teased the dogs into a frenzy and they started fighting each other. Sad stuff like this happens.
I'd rather dwell on the positive stories. I used to leave my pet dogs(not APBT) together. I would never do that now...pits or not.
Actually I have another horror story that is personal. I had a pound female who got pregnant...this was twenty years ago...and my brother let her out to pee and she got pregnant...arghhh!
She had ten pups, I had them in the garage with bedding etc. When the pups were 5 weeks old, just starting to investigate solid food, one of them started whining and crying...it's jaw was broken.(I know because I took him to the vet and the vet diagnosed him) I had to have him put to sleep..poor little guy! I think his Mom snapped at him cause he was in her food dish...They are delicate when they are small. I am sure she didn't hurt him on purpose.
But stuff, bad stuff, happens with dogs, even when we think we are being careful.
Sorry for hijacking the thread with bummer stories.

My rottweiler is a male he is good with other dogs I was suprised how fast he took to my friends pit bull puppies (they were 5 weeks old). I had them in a pen next to Bear(My rottweiler) and they squeezed through the fence and got in the pen with him Bear didn't pay them no attention he let them do what eva they wanted eat his food, drink his water, and got in the house with him. He seems to love puppies he never been aggressive with puppies (until they get Dice size ...she aggravates him a lot). Dice sometimes follow me in the house the only reason she doesnt stay in here because my sister had her newborn child. She has always been healthy the only thing she had got was tapeworms i got rid of them in 3 days now she is fine. I do wish I could take her in the house.

You know what....I read it again and now I cant believe it.My dog Spike is a Dragon with strange dogs......strong and brutal like the pure power of nature , but if it comes to pups he is slow and soooo carefully....if you would see it you would laugh. You sayd this male plays and then he crushes the whole skull of that puppy.....sorry but that sounds like propaganda to me.Or what was it for a puppy? From a vvery little breed like a chihuahua? Like I said bevore it sounds not real for me.Ok a Bitch with STRANGE puppys....thats another colored horse....but thats a problem you could have with GSD or rottweilers or any other kind of breed.

I had a pit at 5 months with other pit 3 month they loved each other, but as soon as they got 7 and 5, one day one got jealus and tryed to kill the other one had to give payasa away and kept one. Well the best thing to do is educate your self and do what you think is right to do with your pit.
