So i finally made the right decision and got my dog neutered today. When i first joined this site a few months ago i was hell bent on breeding my dog because i loved his temperment and body structure even though he's a pitty/boxer mix. Well after being on this site for some time and getting a lot of helpful advice from very knowledgable people i've decided that i would never want my dog to reproduce because it will just add to the already high pet population in this country. I just wanna say thanks to all the people who have helped out on this site and a big thanks for the people who have put together this site for everyone to learn the right way to raise and care for ur dog. Hopefully in a couple years i can begin my own yard of game dogs, not really sure what blood i like the best atleast i will know what to expect when i finally get a true apbt.

Im sure it puts a smile on marty and shon's face when they can see that there site helped a pit bull owner make the right decision.

Thanks for the positive feedback everyone, now i have a question i've heard of people saying that their dogs have gotten fat after they get fixed is there any truth to this statement?

Mine haven't. Munkee was always a fat ass & Justice has always been a skinny girl. Just feed & exercise him as you always have & he will be fine.

Good choice. No, he won't get fat unless he is fed too much and exercised too little. Each dog has a different metabolism and some need more food, some need a lot less.

Good job. My 2 boys are also neutered, one has papers, one doesn't. Also, one is getting fat the the other isn't. So it just depends on the individual. Maybe a little less food and a little more exercise.

Absolutely awesome! The fact that you researched, listened and acted, assures me that you will make a fine breeder some day! Reps all the way!

Thanks for the positive feedback everyone, now i have a question i've heard of people saying that their dogs have gotten fat after they get fixed is there any truth to this statement?Nope. Although some dogs will experience a slight slowdown of their metabolism, dogs will only get fat from overfeeding & they can't feed themselves. Think about it. ;)
Here's a dog I had to have neutered (despite his outstanding ped & my dreams of making him my next big one) due to his recurring demodex & his being a cryptorchid. He had been neutered approx. 4 mo. when I took this picture. He came to me weighing in at 66lbs & weighed 50-52 when he died. He was in the mid-50's in this pic.

I'm happy to hear about your decision, based on the knowledge you've learned from this forum. Like they say, you can't reach 'em all, but, to know that some have read, comprehened and used what they have learned, hell, that's great in my book!
Add me to the list: Enjoy your points! They are certainly well deserved! http://www.game-dog.com/forums/images/icons/icon14.gifhttp://www.game-dog.com/forums/images/icons/icon14.gif
and "no", your dog will not "get fat and lazy". That's just a myth. Continue as you did before you got him neutered, (obviously, when he's ready for it) and he should be fine!
Nice goin!

First of all let me say thanks to everyone for all the rep points. Now let me give everyone an update on him, i picked bruno up after work last night and he was doing fine and acting like nothin happened just a little drowsy. Well today he's back to his old self just wanting to play but i have to limit his activity for a day or 2. Hopefully in a few days i can continue with the conditioning program and keep him healthy and active, oh yea FYI it looks like he actually gained about 2 pounds since i've been feeding him Canidae and conditioning him but it looks like its all muscle because he's definately nice and ripped. I'll post some new pics here soon
