View Full Version : Aww...That's a Cute Dog
The hip-hop generation has had a love affair with the pit bulls for a long time. With stars like DMX, who is rarely seen without the company of one of his dogs to Big Boi, a member of the group OutKast who breeds pits prominent people have caught "dog-bark fever". The American Pit Bull Terrier has enjoyed a long history of very committed owners and breeders. Not only do many of your favorite stars have these animals around the house both Presidents Wilson and Roosevelt shared the White House with a pit.
Not all Americans share the stars affections for this specific breed of dog. Driven by reports of viscous dog attacks, breed specific legislation aims to make it harder to own the dog. "I have heard so many bad stories about pits attacking children I don't know if I would trust my child around one" said Jamicka Calloway, a former University of Washington student.
The American Pit bull Registry does admit that the identified risk group for attacks is children below the age of eleven. This may be do to the children's treatment of the animal. Though stigmatized as a viscous killer the American Temperament Test Society ranks the dog below the toy poodle.
Many breeders blame the poor stigma, that the pit bull has, on owners that fight the dogs illegally. "My roommate has a pit and I know he would never fight the dog, but I have seen dog fights before" said Marlo Bradford, a junior from Shreveport. Every year dogs are confiscated from their owners for maltreatment. For anyone that wants to get a pit, you can adopt, or visit a breeder. Some breeds of dogs have become trendy, but the pit bull appears to remain a favorite.

The owners give the dogs a bad name. They place their animals in no win situations. If you live in an apartment complex.....you shouldn't own a pit bull. You owe it to your dog(s) to give them the attention they need and deserve as well as the exercise. This is a game breed and the city aint no place for them.

Just my .02Well, i don't reeeally agree, but then again i'm biased because i make it a priority everyday to exercise my boys (take them to my moms house and run around in the back yard/walk everyday). I live in an apartment though...

These rappers have anything good for the pitt bull image.Big Boi has a pitt bull farm where he breeds them 20+ dogs there, how could someone even have enough time to take care of them or give them all attention or train them the right way. There was an article in here about DMX having 10+ pitts in his garage and in the crates were feces, urine and the dogs weren't taken care of.How come these "RAPPING BEASTS" can get away with stuff like that? The legal limit for dogs are normally 3.How could someone get enough leverage to keep 10-20.That makes no sense. You don't see people like us doing that do you??

As far as the # goes, I have 10 dogs at my house, and 9 pups, and they are well taken care of. It's easy to do if you have the will

yeah i will have to disagree on the # statement. we have 20 right now and they all get the best care possable and i make it a point to rotate them out on the cable runs we have built. after i get off work my nights belong to the dogs. the pups alternate trips to pets mart with us to keep them socialized and used to traveling.

My wife has to make me come in the house sometimes, from 3:45 til??? I'm with the dog's, constant work, but I love it. I like for people to say, " Man that dog is really cut up"
