JUST to start out, I have no intent on breeding. My question is this.

Lets say you have 1/2 brother and sister, lets say they share the same father and have a different mother. What is the potential for these dogs to be screwed up as compared to other inbreeding practices of say pure littermates.

Please do not get OFF topic with my question.

Thanks

Lots of reading there and good reading at that, but just to keep things simple let me say that line breeding and inbreeding from dogs that have that trait you are looking for, will reproduce that trait more so than making an outcross. Many breeders will tell you the same!

Below is just one example.

Inbreeding can bring out the best of the best , but also the worst as well because recessive genes can be doubled up on and expressed

You are so right Patch!

Breeding dogs can be predictable sometimes and then very unpredictable the next! I would like to tell any one that reads this post to leave the breeding to those that have been doing it with good results for many years, but I know there will aways be those that want to breed there own dogs and to those few people I would say start out with a good line of dogs that are known to produce the trait you are looking for and from there try and keep with-in that line you have chosen to work with.

Good luck to you and by all means don't get carried away and try to keep more dogs than you can take proper care of! :)
