first let me start off by saying hello to all!! im am new here and i have 2 apbt one male(kane) and one female(dutches). anyways i have had kane for 2 years and he is great dog. dutches is kinda a new addition she is 4 months old and a great puppy. my question is when they play kane really does good with her considering he is 3 times her size but sometimes they play really rough and she starts growling and barking. kane is not really vocal never barks or growls really other than when he wants to get your attention for playing. but when she starts growling so does he. is this normal or should i correct them.

Some dogs are very vocal when they play. You need to really watch the
body language /postures. Always monitor them

Good luck and enjoy the new pup

i always monitor them. she seems as if she is very defensive and angry. but i just didn't know if she was just rough playing or trying to fight. is this normal for puppies to act like this?

Its normal for puppies to act like that and talk and make noises. They are just communicating. What you need to watch is their body language. The puppy will still pounch and be playful. You just need to monitor both of them, but watch the older one for body aggresive body language. i.e. the way they hold their tail or do their head kinda sideways and give the pup a crazy look. Just keep an eye on them . Make sure the play is always supervised so when it get out of hand you can correct their behavior.

its ok now....cuz the little one doesn't pose a 'threat'....but never trust kane alone with the little one. 'never trust a pitbull not to fight' is a rule of thumb alot of us live by. yes, they are opposing genders, and a significant age spread, but that doesn't mean it cannot happen. growling and barking is ok...as long as its in a playful manner. you'll know. this behavior, however, WILL teach the little one to do the same, to play rough and to be vocal with other. keep that in mind.
