just wondering for the people with more than one dog on the yard, when you guys are working with a flirt pole do you tether/chain the dog at all or do you take the dog to an area where it cant get to the other dogs?

I only have one dog but I keep my dog on the chain while doing flirt pole because my yard isn't fenced in.

I tie mine up with a lunge line...about 30 feet long...Sometimes I do it in the house...not recommended, but I am careful and I have a lot of room in my dining room to do so.

I always take mine in an enclosed fence so they can't get to any other dogs. I have about 4 now that will play with the flirt pole.

I put mine on a 20 foot lead but don't tie it to anything. That way I can step on it or grab it if they start going for the other dogs. I never tie it when I'm teaching a dog how to use one cause if they hit the end it gives them a correction and they'll come to me for forgiveness and won't go right back to the pole.

If you want to keep the dog on a chain while doing the flirt pole, you will need to make sure that the chain is reasonably long. Mine is on a 23 foot chain. That is 23 feet in either direction, so there is no issue with him hitting the end of the chain.

I have more than a few dogs on my yard. I have an isolated area away from the other dogs to work my flirt pole. I dont have many issues with my dogs running back to the chain set ups to start some trouble. They see each other every day and would rather work than run back to fight. I am lucky unlike most cause I have 30 acres or so that is wooded and has hills to keep the dogs from seeing each other when OTC. I even have a few that I can run free in groups that get along pretty good.
