Ok well i got this female shes about a year and a half but she never got in heat. I was wondering why is this. I know of a bunch of other pitbulls who get in heat before they even turn a year old. I mean other than that she seems allright i hope she dosent get sick or anything because of this, but i was told that its because ive never had her aroung any other males well let me know wat u all think or know why this is thanks

How do you know she didnt have her heat cycle already? She probably just had a silent cycle, with little physical signs of what is going on inside that you missed.

My female is 1yr and 1mo. and hasn't had a heat cycle either I thought that she was going to go into heat about a month ago. Her nipples got a little bigger and turned pinkish in color but she never went into heat to my knowledge and I play with her and sleep with her she's an inside dog.
14rock can you give me a little more info. I'd really appriciate it. I had a siamesse cat that had silent heat cycles but I've never heard of a dog having a silent heat.

If you need to be asking questions like this, I really doubt you need to know when she has another.

Cemereno-a silent heat is simply a bitch going into heat without many outward physical signs. Very little swelling of the vagina or tits, no bleeding, etc. Basically, the dog is having its heat cycles without the owner being aware and thus, thinking the dog just isnt having them.

I get that I had a cat like that I just wanted to know any other signs of any sort that might be visable or a possible attitude change that might be evident. Thank you for your help in this as I have never heard of this in dogs before.

Are you planning on breeding this dog?

Have you had her since she was a pup and no for sure she hasn't had a regular cycle?

It is could be a silent heat, a late blooming dog, or there could be some sort of issue going on. next time you are in for vaccines just double check it with the vet.

Also different dogs have different outward signs besides the swelling and bleeding so you can't just say look for the dog being moody... with silent heats it is tough.
