Hello.
im new in this forum, and this site, and i am not sure where i should post this question, its probably the wrong place but ill give it a try.(sorry about my english, im from norway u see)
Anyway, back to what i wantet to ask, i was wondering about if the breed is visious(not sure if thats right spelled, what i mean is angry towards other dogs, people, and so on)
Iv never had the pleasure of meeting one of these wonderfull and beutifull animals before. but iv allways loved the breed, i think they are very beutifull dogs. and i HATE the common man say that the dog is dangerous...
now like i said iv never meet the breed, but i dont beliv that they are so dangerous, yes its a powerfull animal, and it has a history of voilence.
but my experiens is that the breeds that are supose to be so dangerous is actualy very gentel creatures. the smaller the dog gets the crasyer it gets:P hehe.....
sadly i will probably never meet the breed either, they are not allowed in my contry:(
iv allways had dogs, iv had from small cuddly dogs to a breed called Riesenschnauser(dont know if you ever heard about it, its a large dog)
and my latest dog is a mix betwen Labrador and Border colli.
a nice family member:)
now this became a long thread, hehe.... wasent ment to be but, was just wondering about the generel pittbull.

Norwaythats a very good question to ask Eirik, they do have aggression towards other animals dogs in paticular but your true game bred american pitbull terrier is not aggressive towards people at all, infact they love everybody.a pitbull is a big undertaking that should not be taken lightly they require alot of work on your part, not only with feeding and keeping healthy and cleaning up after them, but also you have to take measures to make sure it doesnt attack another dog.and the best way to do that is by keeping him leashed at all times when not in your own home or yard.and if he is to be a outside dog he should be on a secure chain/axel setup and your yard should have a nice sturdy high fence.also you must consider his activitey level these dogs were bred to go for hours at a time and not give up no matter what,so that means you have to have enough energey as well to play with them or take them for walks and such.you have got to have an outlet for not only their physical excersice but also they have to have mental excersice, via training and they love to learn things and i would rank them high in the top 10 for smartest dogs around, they can teach themselfs to open doors and such just by watching you do it a few times.it is not uncommon to leave it in the house and come home and find him in the back yard where he opened the door himself.i know they are not allowed in your country but you never know if you will move to a place where you can get one .so if you can deal with everything it takes to own a APBT then they will be the best dog you have ever owned, and you will often think to your self why you didnt own one before.

Just to further emphasize on what Texaspitdogs posted....Dog aggression ABSOLUTELY DOES NOT equal human-aggression in this breed, as it does in many others. Our breed has been bred to fight dogs in the pit, and be handled by people. This has created a dog that is in my opinion the most stable of all canine breeds as a whole, in the aspect of human affection. I dont have too much time to write a lengthy response, but I'm glad you are taking the time to learn about the breed, and doing your own research...if you have any questions at all, shoot me a private message and I will respond to whatever you are wondering as soon as I get some spare time. I really recommend you check out some books by Richard F. Stratton, he has very good beginners books describing the history of the breed, tempermant, what traits to look for, raising one, etc etc.
