What a load of crap! (putting it as nicely as I can) Ya, it looked like a really good advertisement until you read the very bottom... Assholes!

Geez, did you read their pet rule sheet? I guess we should be happy that they're at least discriminating against large dogs of all kinds.
(To hell with that. We should be pissed.)
"Pets over 50 pounds prohibited.
NO pit bulls, Rotweilers, Doberman Pinchers, or vicious/ threatening dogs of any kind allowed in park."
I sent them an email. Maybe a bit of polite pressure would help?

"Vicious/threatening dogs" WTF?! Well, I don't want to listen to some puny lapdog yapping its head off all night either. How 'bout that?! They shouldn't allow pets at all if they're going to discriminate.

I agree, all or none. I was looking at different campgrounds too and I've run accross this several times. No pit bulls, dobermans, rottweilers, or any other aggressive breeds... I think they should just stick with their leash rules and kick out anyone who is disturbing the peace. Camping is so friggin regulated around here... it sucks.

Well, being that most of these places are public places, they can not tell me that I can not bring my service dog with me, which happens to be a pitbull. That is unless they want some really ugly publicity and a lawsuit on their hands. ;)
While I do respect people who are afraid of dogs, I have a hard time with people who are just ignorant.
We just visited a campground we are considering spending a week at and they have a No Viscious/Barking Dogs ordinance too. But it is not breed specific.
I brought Birdie with me to help me up the wooded trail, the camp ground owner was impressed with her and told me she was more than welcome to camp there with us. And as long as Petey doesn't bark and is well behaved, he is welcome as well.

I have had Gretchen in many of Arkansas state parks. The staff up at Pettie Jean love her and look forward to September when I hold an Econoline meet. For earlies 61-67 Model Econolines at the Antique auto museum/ We all camp out at the camp grounds at the state Park up there i have been doing it for four years now and never once have I had a problem. And If I did I would pull my clubs funding from the Museum and the state parks. I can hold the meets at my own place if need be. That is crude. Pay extra for dogs and ban some. I hike my leg and pee on that park.

That is Jackson Lake park. We just discussed this on another list because The Ohio RE Bully BBQ is being held there. But the guy hosting it said he talked to whoever was in charge and they are going to let the dogs in.

But why would they want to give any business to that park? I know its a hassle to change "show" sites, but WTF. What's the saying about every dollar you spend being a vote?

That's so dumb! I camp at Tyler State park in TX, and they don't say anything to me. the campsites are so far appart I don't see how they could.
Also my husband is a Marine and I go on base weekly to take the dogs to the lake and they look at the dogs and tell me hi mam' and go ahead. I can't believe that you can get 2 APBT's on a millitary base with no problems, but you can't get them into a park. Good God what is the world coming to?

Well I tried to email Jackson Lake Park to discuss their "No Pit" policy, but they seemed to have shut off their email link.......hhmmm interesting.
