Yes She is a quite a dumb @ss She is just mad because it was her brother that got mauled in the kansas city attacks. She also breeds and raises roughtrightlers and she has the nerve to do this to the american pit bull terrier. I dont like roguhtrightlers because I got mauled myself when i was young, but I dont sit there and try to ban the breed because I had a bad experience. I know it wasn,t the roughtrightlers fault that he attacked me it was the lack of training and owner responsabilities. What are people thinking anymore. There is alot of heat going on here in missouri. Expecially Independence Missouri where this lady is trying to ban pit bulls. I would just like to say thanks. I'm glad that you know what's best for me and my family. We are too stupid to take care of ourselves. If it wasn't for liberal know it all like you all of us dumb rednecks would surely be in trouble. Just like anti-gun people. They are always looking out for us poor dumb people. Thank God for them too. I can't believe I have been living around these monstrous, mythical creatures all of my life. I'm lucky too be alive. I mean I do have a scar on my face from a dog attack when I was 10. But that was from my friends Black Labrador. But hey they are a yuppie dog so it's okay. And I was run into a tree by two Dobermans along with two friends. If it wasn't for my brothers APBT help who knows.
But I guess I was wrong all along about these dogs. Last year my female APBT saved my wife in an attempted home invasion. An intruder used a crow bar to open a window when my wife and two year old son were home alone. My dog heard this and tried to go out the window after him. Man, I guess my wife would have been better off with the intruder than my blood thirsty killer. I am glad an expert like you has saved us. I mean I've only been training dogs for five years. I have trained police, S&R, and Ring Sport dogs, and have taught an obedience class twice a week for three years. But now I realize that I really know nothing about dogs or dog behavior. Thank you for enlightening me. I am glad that their are people like you that force your beliefs on all of us for our own safety. I mean who cares that this country is less free everyday. Rights are overrated anyway. I mean giving up freedom for a little safety is way worth it.
You know my cousin was seriously injured by their family Cocker Spaniel when he was six. Maybe we should look into this psycho breed too. Also when I was a kid there was a couple down the street who had two Alaskan Malamutes. They overturned the crib of the couples new born baby and killed it. I think they should be next. Or you know what that's just ban all breeds. No one in this country really needs dogs anyway. I mean this is America. Why would anyone want to do anything but hang out at Starbucks and watch TV. Were I live a recent study showed that more children were injured by Black Labs, German Shepards and Cocker Spaniels than Pit Bulls. In that order. And trust me there are more Pit Bulls in my city than any of these other breeds. What does that tell us? Oh man wait there I go thinking for myself again. My brain hurts. I don't need to think because we have middle aged white ladies on a crusade to save us all and too think for us.

BUT,your letter above is the wrong way to try to change people's minds. they already think that pitbull owners are uneducated unworking drug dealing gang members.. with the intent of your letter, you basically confirmed that to them.. that we are uneducated and get pissed to quick.. the best way when writing a letter to someone is to be factful, respectful, keep emotions out of it, and just state facts and such.. anyone who reads your letter will have the same response- "gee, look those pit bull people are arregant and nasty, no wonder their dogs are attacking people"..

if you word your letter differently, with no malice or snootiness, you can get more people to Maybe think about the breed then the way its written now.

It's called sarcasm. And I can see how well educational writing has worked so far. You don't think that these people have heard every "pitbull fact" a thousand times? Do you really think they care? Do you think they believe you? Actually understanding sarcasm is a sign of education. The point of the letter was not to convert her to a pitbull lover by stating facts and statistics. The point was to show the trend in this country were "do-gooders" think they know what's best for all of us. Half of the people on this forum don't know enough about pitbulls to be stating facts in the first place. And we should be pissed. These people are taking our rights away. sometimes, people dont even bother reading the sarcasim ones, and sometimes they dont read the nice sugary ones.. the bottom line is this is getting ridiculous.. the breed is going downhill quick, the media is having a field day, and everyone who owns the breed is panicking.. just because some of us dont have the knowledge that others do, doesnt mean we dont know what we are talking about. yes, some of them say that its training, some dont. the bottom line is there is a problem out there, there are unstable unsound pit bulls or pit mixes whether pet or not, that are going after people. the owners should be held responsible for not doing everything to protect the public , and they are not securing their dogs good enough.. it doesnt matter how many of us arent as knowledgable as all the ones here, what matters is that there is a huge problem.. unsound dogs are causing collateral damage.. i prefer to write nice sugary letters, as i feel that the people will read those more.. i feel that writing certain facts is a help, some are not. i feel that writing about good dogs helps, some dont. its to each persons right to write what they want, but when i get responses from county representatives when i write a nice sugary letter, and get no response when i write a sarcastic one, i use the one that works.. i have written responses in my local paper to pit bull attacks that happened a few towns away from me, granted it was 2, but still, my sarcastic letter never made it to print, but when i rewrote the letters and made them nice, and stated statistics, those got into the newspaper .. i have had congressmen write me back with me sending nice letters, not nasty.. i guess what works for one doesnt work for all.

the bottom line is something has to be done. whether the breed is cleaned up, or the BYB's go away, something has to be done. too much media attention is killing the good dogs because of a few bad ones.. no one can deny that..

You are right there are alot of bad dogs out there. I can't tell you how many back yard breeders there are within 10 miles of my house. If I hear another punk talk about how big his dogs head is again I'm going to puke. It is happening to all breeds. You know how many yuppies bring us thier labs to fix them. "They are too hyper, he won't fetch, he bit my kids." Then you throw something and the dog looks at you like you lost your mind. Absolutley zero retrieve drive. I mean its called the Labrador Retriever for a reason people. Then they say "oh well we won't hunt with him anyway so who cares" Sound familiar? Kids get bit by Labs here all the time. All because some smuck bred one "pretty dog" to another. Same thing with the APBT. Anyway, keep up the good work. Keep writing letters to Senators. Show them all the holes in the BSL movement. It will end just not peacefully in all probability. People will get tired of having their rights taken away and will eventually fight back or become slaves to the Government. What these liberal suck a$$es don't realize that what they push for will lead to total socialism where the citizen is not free to do anything with out permission from some governing body. And most if not all get denied. When they are left throughing rocks at tanks just like in China not too long ago. Well at least for me it wasn't. All the liberties we fought so hard to get we so willingly give up. For these folks that want the government to do all the thinking and desiding for them they should move to Russia or China and get a good taste of it first. People get mauled by Moose, Elk, Bears, cougars, bulls, goats and so on. You can't kill every thing that mauls someone. Tree falls on some one we going to cut all the trees down? nah. I think most people at one point got bit by something. I think it is good for use to experience pain. Teaches you what to look for next time. And not to trust a strange animal. You for sure remember shooting the bull in the cod sack while you're in the fence and many yards from it is a very stupid idea. But also we learn that if we let idiots buy, adopt, obtain or what ever on this breed their mess ups effect us all. So don't sell to idiots, wife beaters, dog beaters, those that breed the guts out of their dogs and so on down the list of stupid things to do. We have to hold each other responsible. Check your friend when they need it. Slap em up side the head if they need it. And if he just don't get it get rid of him/her what ever. I feel it is my responsibility to check those I know in the breed if they are out of line. After all if they get nailed it is one more extra nail in our coffen for the breed. My name is Maryellen, and I am a proud owner of an American pit bull terrier. I am first off, truly sorry and the family that had the member attacked by the loose dogs have my condolences. I truly hope that the owner of those dogs that attacked him is held responsible for his dogs’ actions.



While the American pit bull terrier seems like a monster, it is not. Any dog can be bred incorrectly, look at the dalmation, german shepherd, rottie, and other breeds that have been bred incorrectly due to greed for $$.

The correct temperament of the American pitbull terrier is to love humans, and some to not like other dogs, while some dogs will accept other dogs.



To ban a breed because of an individuals actions is callous and uncalled for. Its racial profiling, which doesn’t do anything but allow the backyard breeders and irresponsible owners to move to another breed to use.



The person that should be held responsible here is the owner of the dogs that attacked that man. And, have the dogs been proven to be American pit bull terriers? There are other breeds that look like them,and if you take a lab and boxer and have pups, you can have dogs that look like them too.



The American pit bull terrier is not for everyone, just as Dobermans, rottweilers, german shepherds, and other breeds are not for everyone. However, any dog owner should be responsible with their dogs. The dog owners who don’t license, take care of, tie their dogs outside, no training, those are the owners who should be held liable for their dogs actions. People who own dogs should do their breed research before they get their dog, so that this way they know what the dog is about.



Here is a few pictures of my American pit bull doing what he loves best, giving therapy to the patients at the nursing home, and having the learning disabled 2nd graders read to him.. I am a working class citizen, I license my dogs every year, take them to the vet when they need to go, and I have had each of my dogs go to 2 years of obedience training, and I work with them at home. I am a responsible owner. I also will not own a dog that is aggressive to humans. I take my dogs everywhere, so that they are well socialized and I make sure that they behave around people and are friendly. Please don’t discriminate against us who take care of whatever breed we have, and who would never allow our American pitbull terriers to do this type of damage to anyone, as our dogs that we own are true to the breed. Please, do not discriminate the breed, there are good dogs of every breed, and bad dogs of every breed, but please don’t ban an entire breed because of the actions of an irresponsible owner.

AKC has a lot of influences and money and they are willing to back us on this. Help us out point out the real problem and maby we can get this stoped it may not be today tommorow but if we organize better and work at this we can stop it.
