I have a ten week old puppy. He will follow me everywhere I go which is good. Today I took him outside and when I put his leash on him he first pulled against it then he would not move at all. I tried to walk but all I was doing was dragging him so I stopped. Could somebody help me with this and tell me the steps to get him walking.

Just hook the leash to him and let it completely drop to the floor. Let him walk around dragging it behind him. When he ignores it and seems use to it then pick it up and coax him to walk with you. Try not to pull him because he will feel insecure and pull against you. Good Luck. if you have any /s you can PM me.

she may be a little shy at 10 weeks,it is a bigwide world out there!
take it easy with her, time time time is the answer.
She`s only a little puppy,hopefully in 10 months time she`s telling you
"are we going for a walk or not????"

I would have to agree with this method as a beginner step, just like anything you cant just jump into it, let the dog runn around with the leash attached, it will get used to the feeling of having a leash attached to its collar, as the progression and feeling grow the easier it will be to walk your dog.....on the other hand, something I recently tried as Pit is a natural puller, get a cheater lead, with a retractable clasp, a nice fit right behind the ears, and behind the jaws...well lets just say, my dogs used to get thier exercise via a harness and me on a bike....they actually walk right beside me now, without any pulling.....initially a very subtle tug from the side on the lead, and they will walk by your side...key is presence...stand up straight, never let the dog walk ahead of you, they need to either be beside, or behind you....
try it...what could it hurt...oh just in case a cheater lead looks like a long skinny leash, the leash can fit in the clasp, you use it like a choker, except it does slip as much, with the righ amount of slack and works great......

well what i always do and it pretty much gets em walking right in about 30 minutes to an hour,go get a light nylon leash from any store who sells em.hook it on and let it hang real loose without any tension now the trick is when you bend down to put it on him call him to you bend down and start making all over him and while he is distracted with that hook it on quietly then since he followes you everywhere to begin with just start walking and telling him to come on and start tapping your leg.i have broken puppies who friends of mine spent months with and i broke em in about a hour using this method.now when you get him to walk with you just spend time outside walking back and forth for as long as you want to,chances are he wont even know it is on and he will stay by your side.
