Hey Everyone,
I am posting today because I have noticed a few new things on this site lately. When I first joined it was all about Game Bred Dogs and now all I see it big blue dogs and tree hugging , bunnie lovers. WHere did all the game dog owners go? I used to use this site and an Education tool but not its been turn into a crap hole. Can we maybe get it back to the old site? get the REAL DOG MEN BACK?
Please tell me if you agree or not?
Thanks Crazy Canuck
p.s not trying to bash Blue dogs they need the love too just not on a game dog site.......

I like the site...I'm fairly new and I've learned a lot about the breed not only about the my dog, but also the Game bred. This site still consentrates on the game dogs, but I like the fact you can still ask good questions without being hassled.

You shouldnt need to come to an internet site to talk dogs. If you really have a serious question and are looking for guidance....find a mentor who you can visit and talk to. Too many rats, snitches and cops with an IP address to talk about anything openly to any stranger who asks! What do you guys want, to play internet-dogger? Theres plenty of other sites out there for just that purpose, join up, and watch the sites get closed down in short order because idiots running their mouths.

I have been pleased with most of the folks here. Maybe your definition of game is not in tune with the rest. Maybe you should check out the Glossery posted a few weeks back.
Well the site hasnt changed. Its the people that has changed. There are no more original mods on here that kept the site Game-dogs only. But now that they are gone its now about pet bull's. I like to come to the site to see some of the original people put there thoughts about subjects. But there are plenty of other sites to talk dogs just have to look.

well to be honest, as a new owner, i feel like i have been given a secret code to unlock for the answers to owning an APBT. so many posts contradict themselves, and who knows, maybe i have just as much capability of being a dogman than anyone else, but there isnt evactly a thread that sits down the newbies and breaks it down for us. instaed everyone just does this hush hush beat around the bush dance. i wanna know what people like crazy canuck is talking about....can someone point me i that direction ?? sometimes the bunnie humping tree lovers or whatever arent that by choice....they are like that b/c either its crap living around them that is no use, or crap being fed to us over the internet! so, does anyone want to PM me and tell me what i am REALLY supposed to do with my dog?
btw~please dont read my post as mean and angry....i am TRULY curious!!!
Dog people don't respond to ads. They find those that are ready to learn and begin to mentor them. When the time is right, someone finds you...

I would love to have somebody I could physically go to, but have yet to find anyone around me, so I guess I'm stuck with you all instead, lol, j/k I love you all! This site has really helped me out a lot more than I thought it would. So anyone need someone to mentor, come look me up, cause I need one..lol ;)
People its not that easy to get a mentor. Go to dog shows. Get out there in the dog world meet new people. Thats the only way not sitting at home playing with your dogs and talking on the computer.

That's one of the best ways to learn.
Just "get out there".

Well, well then mister man. Very well put, I agree, but for some of us its very hard to travel to get to shows, and the dog world in my town is not all that great(as I have found so far, still looking) so this is the next best thing for me. So :p

pepper, you can do ANYTHING with your dog.. start training now, and you can do agility, obedience, rally 0, therapy , Search and rescue, weight pulling, french ring, brevet, schutzhund, anything you want. all you have to do is start training for regular obedience and then work your way up to whatever you want to do... i took rufus to 2 years of obedience school, then did the therapy test, and for the past 2 years we do therapy work at hospitals, schools and nursing homes, we are now training to be red cross disaster teams, to help out in case of an emergency, and i am also going to start teaching him agility, and also to be a service dog just for the hell of it, and i might even consider weight pulling once i get his hips xrayed to make sure he is healthy enough.

once they are spayed/neutered they can't compete in conformation,,she could,,who would see a spay scar,,but,if she became a champion ppl would want puppies and u could not produce them,,then what would ya say?,,there is weight pull that is a blast to watch,,as far as french ring and some of the protection work,,its hard once they have already learned obediance to train for bite work,,but there are other things to do,,working dogs need to work,,if only mine would vaccum while I was gone,,and make the bed after they got out of it

You can get a limited license from ADBA for spayed and neutered dogs. This will allow you to show in the fun classes. It's not for points, but if your dog enjoys it it will be fun for the both of you. You do win trophies for these classes if you were wondering. You won't be able to show her in the pointed classes because she is spayed. If they do find out you will be disqualified. I hope this helps, if you are looking at showing her.

You would say you are not interested in breeding. just because a dog is a ch doesnt mean you HAVE to breed it. You shouldnt breed for others anyway, you should breed for yourself so who cares what others want! Showing is simply fun to some and doesnt give a green light to go ahead and produce pups ;) Many a dog reaches a ch early in age and after they have finished maturing do not fit the breed standard as well as they did as a younger dog...
And its funny how it gets mentioned about not needing to come to an internet site to become a dogger or learn, . seeing as a few people came to this site not knowing much and now are experts???

You would think (and hope) that no one is using the internet as their only tool for gaining knowledge.
Remember the world is big, not everybody is living some where there is a mentor.
My mentor is my vet. but she dont have a lot of knowledge about living , raising ect. a pitbull. And trust me, there is nobody else on the island, so what should I do?
I have spend endless hours asking and looking around, and what I seen is not nice.
So I found this forum, and you all have helped me alot! If I would like to use my dog in anyother way than what is legal, I for sure would not look for advise on the net.

Well, I can tell you that I have learned quite a bit from this site. In turn it has helped me to educate others on being responsible pitbull owners. Now most of those folks are petbull owners, but never the less, I've told them and showed them what their dog has the potential for, both good and bad.
I came here as a petbull owner who occaisionally used her dog to help do labor around the yard and with our landscaping company. Now I have another dog that I am training to be a service dog for myself.
I've come to realize that I truly enjoy working my dogs and that they love to work. Working my dogs has helped me to overcome some of obsticles of my disability.
I support this site because I firmly believe that there is alot to be learned from others with more experience. Members of Game-Dog.com have taught me alot, and not just about dogs either. One lesson that comes to mind is how this site supported and helped our members affected by Hurricane Katrina.

showing a spayed dog for points is cheating,,u shouldn't breed for yourself either,,its about breeding for what is right for confirmation,,correct body type, correct head piece,,etc.,,usually its the opposite,,certain parts like head,,tail set, stay the same through maturity,,then they grow into a body that can be well put together,,its not likely that there are alot of puppies that become champions,,they would have to be something special. I would say having a champion gives u the green light to breed,,only if u breed with the best,,I am not claiming to be any kind of expert,,there is plenty I need to learn,,I also been in the dog world along time,,I do know a little something

TO ALL NEWBIES.......The best way to learn about the dogs is to do it and not read about it.
Rule #1. Get 2 dogs and a stick....You will get answers to a lot of questions that way.
If you want to find out which lines have the best mouth, refer to rule #1
If you want to know what linesare the gamest, refer to rule #1
If you want to know what line are fast starters, refer to rule #1
Ever heard of "street" smarts or "book" smarts? You aint getting any "street" smarter sitting on here listening to people who dont know they ass from a hole in the ground (not everyone by a long shot).

i agree, people need to come to places to learn about the breed, yes there are books out there, but a book is just words if no one listens to them.. i hung around with some pit bull people before i got my petbull..and soaked up everything that sounded normal to me and read lots of books, joined a bunch of forums, and i am still learning... to just throw someone a pitbull and say go learn on your own and dont ask any questions is crazy...

I think they left because of the direction the board starting going and some left because members pm's where being read. I'm sure there are a few members that still remain that actually have a little bit of hand on experience with the breed in all areas? Then again how can a board name "game-dog" be taken serious with so many pet owners as moderators?
