Hi everyone, my dog Achilles is finally getting used to his chain set up, I used to leave his dog house (plastic dog carrier) , outside, but , when I pick it up in the morning its somewhere in the middle of the bky and he pisses inside it, I live in Az, so its not cool here, he doesnt seem to mind sleeping in the dirt.

He needs something other than a plastic dog carrier as a house first of all. When he's alone & bored, it's too easy for him to turn it into a play toy which is what he has done. As for urinating in it, well, he's just claiming it as his.

A male dog will urinate on things, He needs a dog house not a crate out side. And if he is urinating inside of his dog house or in your house he was not kenneled properly by the breeder. The mother dog tends to that in the den or brood box. But you need to change the bedding often also. It is just plain unsanitary otherwise. If they smell the urin there they think it is ok to go there. I have one photo of a crate in side a kennel I had to use for one day till I could get the neighbor to help me put the dog house in. Takes two to lift it over the kennel. But in that one day Night Shade tore that sucker apart. It went back together but it looks like it got caught in a hail storm and kicked around a few times. They just are not heavy enough for out side use. I thought it would be ok for the day and I sadly missjudged that one. Make the dog house strong and heavy and keep it clean and dry. I have one Igloo dog house and I may go with those as it has lasted 15 years and still is in great shape. A little costly but seems worth it in the long run. As I have had to mend and fix dog houses I have made of wood. Make sure it is insulated and vented to keep it from becomming an oven.

Thanks for the quick reply, yea , I figured that crate would be used for a toy rather than a home, it was just a matter of time lol, Im planning on building him something like this http://www.dunkelkennels.com/index2.php, it will keep him cool in the summer and warm and cozy in the cold winters.

MMM, for some reason that link only takes you to the main page, anyways, scroll down and find "yard tips", than take a look at the 2nd dog house, the one with the barell inside.
