Just a slight question. I have two Pits...great dogs. My female barks and talks to me..I LOVE it...but my male, not so much. He'll bark once in a while if he can't see something he hears or if he wants to play, but he mostly groans...like through his nose...I've only heard him growl once. Is this normal? Is it something that more or less "game-bred" dogs?

My older female almost never barks and never growls. I've only heard her bark about 6x's. She doesn't even bark at people that knock on my door. My 5mo. old on the other hand will bark at anything that scares or startles her. Not the door though. She tends to bark at the alarm clock in the morning and when she's sleeping in her kennel and you walk up and she doesn't hear you. She otherwise doesn't really bark or growl. So IMO you doggies are normal.

Of course he's fine!! He just is a more laid back dog and things don't bother him. Like Rambler for instance, he is quite and hardly barks at all, but Bud will bark, growl, and does a weird whining noise when things bother him. You've seen him before so you know.

Just diffrence in personality, has nothing to do with being "game-bred" or not, male/female, or whatever.

pepper only barks at two things, the cats and a hovering food/water bowl! :)

for the most part these dogs dont bark, but you get a few who are barking fools.it has nothing to do with weather it is game bred or not.he is just mellow.
Molly hardly barks, but she does something funny when she wants to play. It sounds like Ho-Ooo-Ooo-Ooo-O!!!!!!

I don't want barkers.
However, each & every dog is different.
