Hello everyone.

I'm Tasha(22) and I just LOVE my 2 pitbulls "Tia(3) and Tamera(10 months)".
I got Tia almost 3 years ago and I knew absolutely nothing about pitbulls. I had always had a dog as a child. I had a German Sheperd, Golden Retriever and a Labrador and they were the best dogs IMO until I met this scrawny little red nosed creature. I got her for 30 bucks from my brother's friend. My Golden Retriever had died of cancer and I was looking for a new dog. A pitbull was NOWHERE on my list. I had found a breeder of Golden Retrievers and was all set to get a puppy when he made 8 weeks, but my brother kept telling me that his friend has these red nosed pit bull puppies. I was OOOHHH NOOO
"Pitbulls bad"
"Golden Retrievers Good"
So after like 2 weeks of telling me about this pitbull and 2 days before I'm supposed to pick up my goldy I give in and go see the puppy. When we got there, the guy came out of his house with the wierdest looking, scrawny little dog. I could see that she was not being taken care of, so if for no other reason than to save this little girl I paid the 30 bucks. Took her to the vets, got her wormed, shots, etc,. and she drove me crazy.Chewed up EVERYTHING. She was almost kicked out SEVERAL times, but she had potential. She always seemed to look at me like she was trying to understand me and once Tia turned about 2 her demeanor seemed to change. She was calmer, cooler and OMG she is the smartest dog ever.Tia is spoiled rotten and she really does consider me HER pet. She is the best dog I have ever had. Then when she became in heat my neighbor had this very handsome chocolate male pit and wanted to breed them so I say ok. After they did their thing, 9 weeks later we got pups. The 2nd puppy born and 1st girl was little Tamera. Baddest little thing ever. She was just like her mother. After 7 weeks Hurricane Katrina hit and luckily I had given away all the other pups cept Tamera and we loaded up and all came to Houston. 10 months later Tamera is just as smart and beautiful as her mother. People are asking me about breeding her but I'm not so sure. I don't know anything about their bloodlines or whatever but I do know that I have 2 of the best Pitbulls I've ever known. People tell me to register her with the CKC and I have decided against it. I don't wanna be a byb.

Wow, long introduction
Anyway Nice meeting everybody...

Welcome, thanks for the time to write up a intro! Cute dogs, I'm sure they are great pets!

I really do suggest you get them fixed and learn a bit about the breed, and byb's ruining the breed. Just stick around and keep an open mind, you'll love it :D

There's no need for amateur breeders.

Thanx everyone

edit:
Oneday I will get another APBT. I will try to rescue one instead of buying one from a byb.

Your dogs are beautiful but CKC is a JOKE. We registered our Siamese CAT as a purebred Rottie with them. I sent in a fake hand written ped and everything. That right there tells ya what kind of registry they are. Your babies are beautiful but looks alone are no reason to breed a dog. Please spay your babies and just love them for who they are.

You say all of them have gameness to a T? Then you say at family get togethers all the dogs run together? If all these dogs were game, they wouldnt be running together, bottom line!

So when pitbulls are "game" they are completely unable to socialize?

Question
So unless the dog has been fought, how does one say their dogs have this "game" quality?

have fun and be ready to choose the "red" pill or the "blue" pill. keep an open mind and use the "search" in the forum. i did and you won't believe the knowledge there is out there. Peace!

eyes like a chinaman from sippin on the heineken. !)

Gameness is the desire to continue fighting even when they are losing or dying in the pit. Gameness is not a word you throw around especially with pups that play together. Gameness is only displayed when dogs are fought. It sounds like you have some great petbulls and they have a great owner. Keep up the good work but don't throw around the word "game". :) Welcome to the gamedog board.

Regards,

B

BOh see now I get it. I don't think I want my dogs to be "game".
But after alot of reading around the site and other peoples opinions I defininately don't think I am going to be breeding Tamera in the future. I want to always have a dog connected to Tia but it seems best that when the time comes I should just go adopt, instead of having Tia's descendant. But I have read everyone's thought and I do think now that spaying is the best way to go with little Tamera.
