I know its Amstaff but I got it from a dogman that has had many more years than I. So I will give it a go and see what happens! I have known a bitch bred about the same way and she is the real deal FYI!!!

Wow, someone deliberately makes it known that they're working with some Amstaff blood and not one person responds???? Slick Willie I know that your a man that should be taken serious when it comes to these dogs, it just boggles my mind that none of these "game-dog" experts have no insults to come up with. If it was someone that was less known on here and who's knowledge wasn't credible you guy's would have been slaughtered this thread.

Imho, I could understand why someone would still be feeding dogs bred like this. The ruffian line is old Con Feeley and Henry (imported)blood through AKC, CH "The ruffian" (Tudor's blackjack 13x in ten gen.) and pure, old Colby blood through Calamity Anne. I understand that when you breed for anything other than ability and gameness that you lessen your chances of producing quality dogs, but please tell me how do one breed the gameness out of an animal. Yes, I understand that the Amstaff's may not be dog aggressive but when turned on who's to judge that individual dogs heart. I could see if they (Amstaff breeders) rolled these dogs and chose to breed the ones that quit, which I doubt happened. Here is Mr. Don Mayfields take on breeding a game family: This past year ive been ask many questions about breeding a game family of dogs in the breed. What i talk from comes from my understanding that i have proven true in my rescrech of the breed ,,,,im a beliver a breeder can start with the truest purest bred familys in the breed today ,,,and breed them RIGHT as to the truth the GAME and breeders have proven in the records,,,and never have to PROVE one dogs GAMENESS ,,,,and after 20 years that family will be gamer then it was when that breeder started breeding it 20 years before. The truth in this understanding is one must start with a TRUE bred family thats one of the purest familys in the breed ,,,but the family must be bred true just like the pedigrees say on the dog ,,,without the truth of the dogs breeding such as this can not be done. the records show its about breeding the genes in the purest familys,,,when one understands the way the game genes have to be bred for ,,,then they can breed that way,, and never have to prove thir dogs,, and breed a game family of dogs,,,now understand this can not be done with a outcrossed family with untrue bred dogs in thir heritage. Its called FAMILY BREEDING ,,,its very close family breeding of line breeding and inbreeding ,,and outcrossen kin within the same pure family. This is the same way the wild of NATURE is bred,,in the wild of NATURE . The only way this understanding can be understood is with the TRUE PEDIGREED FAMILYS ,,,This is a game about TRUTH SEEKING,, and PROVEN the TRUTH in our UNDERSTANDING . What im talking about is not a part of the BREED thats to be PROVEN ,,,what im talking about is a part of the game thats ALLREADY BEEN PROVEN.

I bet that you'll have a much better chance of these Ruffian dogs being bred honest to what the pedigrees indicates, then any other line other than the Colby's family of dogs. One of earl Tudor's favorite dogs http://www.apbt.online-pedigrees.com/public/printPedigree.php?dog_id=9426 (http://www.apbt.online-pedigrees.com/public/printPedigree.php?dog_id=9426) was a quarter Ruffian. It's even been said that Maurice Carver used Peggy Harper's Ruffian dogs as infusions to his own stock. Not saying that that's true but something to ponder. I've also noticed that certain people crossed these Ruffian dogs to dogs that had heavy dibo influence, which doesnt surprise me being that Dibo himself http://www.apbt.online-pedigrees.com/public/printPedigree.php?dog_id=9 (http://www.apbt.online-pedigrees.com/public/printPedigree.php?dog_id=9) had a good percantage of Colby,Feely and BlackJack blood in him. All in all I hope your dog works out for you. Good Luck

One of the gamest dogs I ever saw had a healthy dose of registered Amstaff in him. Yesterdays amstaffs differ greatly from most amstaff blood today in that, old amstaff stock was often tested as hard as gamedogs. If the papers say "Amstaff" but the dog is the result of years of continuous breedings for gameness, what does that really make it? I say a gamedog. Your opinion might differ. You can call a gamedog a purple tulip, but if you stick true to the breeding standards of a gamedog, and the resulting pups possess the charectoristics of a gamedog-a rose by any other name.....

Blacksheep, They could say what they want but it would go in one ear and out the other with me. I know what it is but will it know what it is? Half Amstaff/Half gamedog! The cross is tight blood of the two dogs breed to make little "SOLO". One line which was game and now near all show and the other game and still game. As for 14 ROCK's ? If its game its a game dog point blank! Game is Game how else can you call it. A black sheep is a black sheep! Right Blacksheep?

The man is honest and upfront about the dog and its breeding. He didnt say it was bred for color, size, etc... He said it was obtained from a dogman he knew and trusted. I dont know anything about Slick Willie or his dogs, but I can bet he likes what he feeds and the dog will be put thru its paces. YIS
