The first thing that comes to mind is corn. What are you feeding it?

The list can be long my dear. Corn, wheat, barley, beef, chicken (any poultry) lamb, sunflower oil, etc.

The best thing to do is to start a very STRICT food trial by either using a prescription food or a holistic one that is very basic (my extreme food allergy dog does great on DVP's Venison formula hence why I switched all my dogs). On average, it takes around 12-16 weeks to see a a large enough improvement to rule out food allergies. For at least 3-4 mo., you must stick to the prescribed food & feed NOTHING but that food. NO treats, no table scraps, no nothing! If 7 weeks into the trial, you break down & give your dog a milkbone, or a rawhide, or a piece of chicken, you can & WILL undo the previous 7 weeks worth of work & will risk your dog having another allergy "breakout". Most people do not have the desire or will to properly feed & maintain a dog with food allergies b/c their emotions come into play & they feel sorry for the dog & ruin the diet by treats. However, if you are determined to have your dog live a happy life, try the strict diet & see how he does.

Also, at the end of the "detox" period, some vets will slowly have you introduce certain common elements back into the diet (i.e. chicken) one at a time & will want you to give about a 2 week period to determine if that element was the cause of the problem. However, dogs with food allergies are often allergic to more than one ingredient so I chose to NOT backtrack once I got my dog "well". Good luck.

8 weeks is NOT enough time to see if a dog is allergic to a specific food. It takes about 12-16 weeks to see the full effect & if you are constantly changing foods, then you will never know as the dog's system doesn't have a long enough time to detox & adjust.

And Royal Canin is chock FULL of the main allergenic crap that dogs exhibit allergies too. If you don't want to try the prescribed diets, then don't bother at all.
