Owners can get paid for having pit bulls neutered

There are still about 50 openings available for a spay/neuter clinic Sunday that will pay pit bull owners to fix their pets.

Spay/Neuter Kansas City is offering low-cost spay and neuter services and financial assistance to those who could not otherwise afford the services.

Pets from targeted ZIP codes will receive $5 rabies vaccinations and low-cost spay/neuter services. Owners of pit bulls can receive a $20 incentive to have their pets spayed or neutered. ZIP codes to receive the discounts include: 64124, 64125, 64126, 64127, 64109, 64130, 64128, 64132, 64131 and 64134.

Those ZIP codes are major problem areas for stray dogs, animal bites and other animal regulation problems, according to officials.

Rabies vaccinations are $5 for the pets of all other Kansas City, Mo., residents and $12 for non-residents. At the event, pet owners must purchase a city license, which is $7 for altered pets.

The spay/neuter clinic with cash incentives for pit bull owners is by appointment only Sunday at the Midtown Clinic, 3710 Main St. Absolutely no walk-ins will be accepted, so call (816) 353-0940 for an appointment.

The program is a partnership of Spay and Neuter Kansas City, Kansas City Missouri Animal Control, Wayside Waifs and AnimalKind.

I think that's just great! For all those who don't have the funds, should take advantage of it.

if you dont have the funds to care for your dog you shouldnt own one. I think a lot of people should think about what they are doing before they own a pet. But for the irrisponsable ones that cant at least they will get they're pets fixed. not mad at the idea mad at the people.
