Someone told me that they work the same inside out, but I suspect people put them on like that because they think it looks cooler.

Well I got I'm afraid its going to hurt, she lost her collar and it was just for the picture, it looks spikier. I hope they know that it's about the same as a choker like that and chokers are cheaper.

I was at the vet with China and someone came up to me and started saying that I was so cruel to have the prongs on the inside. That I had it backwards. LOL. She had one on her Lab inside out! So I let Dr. Woody (our vet) straighten her out. I think it's a combination of ignorance and a "tough" mentality. Some people are just dumb and will fight about someting they no nothing about.
The dog in this attachment was on the "Breedings" page of a website. Sad...

I've seen it on a rottie that used to roam around my area in NM. The dog was a pain because she got mine all riled up and she had tapeworms. I just guessed the owner had it that way so that if any dogs wanted to start a fight (very likely, she pushed her weight) than she, the intruder would have a VERY unfair advantage. I couldn't even run the dog off myself, she would give me lip... damn her. Well, I had to throw rocks, damn her for making me do that!
I've seen it other times too, I think it is either pure ignorance (now, why would you buy a hardcore training aid like that without having a clue how to use it?), fashion (looks stupid to me though) or like the dog I discribed, an unfair disadvantage for a problem dog (which just angers me).
I really love prong collars, I think they are a God Send and I'm glad you brought this up so I can vent. This is a pet peeve of mine as well.

Miss Conduct...luv the pic of your girl, she looks like my Lilly but more muscular...LOL
Prongs are great unless they stoke aggression like they do with my girl, my boy takes to them quite well. Inside out is a waste of what some consider to be a very effective training tool. Always have a back up for a prong, they do fail as my Lilly demonstrated....and then all hell can break loose....sigh
A pic of my girl:
