Hi everyone, I finally installed my chain set up , now I have a question, how long do you think is appropiate for him to be off the chain thru out the day, I let him run around the yard two times a day for about 30min maybe longer, plus every other day he goes for a 2 mile run with me, then he is back to the chain.

watch the heat in arizona. i'm pretty sure it gets dangerously hot in az during the spring and summer months. how would you battle that when he is on the chain? the pool?

Come winter or summer, my dogs have always been outside dogs, In the summer , I use 4 gallon water coolers, they keep the water cold all day long even in Az lol, and I have plent of large trees in my bky so theres always plenty of shade, neve had one of my dogs get sick or complain.

swisher sweet! they live better than i do. hahaha. good luck. i just used what was suggested earlier with 15 ft. chain to give a total of 30 ft. of running room. you guys were right. 30 ft. all around is way bigger than a 5 X 8 kennel. i just let him off the chain for about as much as you do.

Holly crap. I've been to Arizona and I don't know how anything but the rattlesnakes, roadrunners and scorpions can survive outdoors in any other time but winter! I don't know how they do it. I lived in NM for a few years, not quite as hot but I would sit in the shade with my gallon jugs of water and drink gallons a day just to survive. Yikes.

yeah, you should visit Japan. The summers here are rediculous. I lived in Alamagordo NM for 3 years and that was a picnic compaired to AZ. You got the right plan dog-man. keep up what your doing and you should be fine. Good job. God Bless.

Thanks for all your responses, I pretty much knew I was on the right track, just wanted to know how long all you other apbt fans leave your dogs in the chain, for example I know of a guy who never lets them out of the chain, than ofcourse he has 12 apts in chain set up in the same yard lol.
